Dear Mrs. Menendez and Sahuaro professionals,
I am a senior year student at the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education at Arizona State University and am
interested in joining the team of professional educators at Sahuaro Elementary. After living in Prescott, AZ for the
last 19 years I recently moved to back to Phoenix to pursue my degree in Elementary Education. While attending
Yavapai College I earned my Associate degree with honors in Elementary Educational, and currently finalizing my
Bachelors in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Having the pleasure of watching my nieces
continue to grow has strengthened and confirmed my love for children and furthered my motivation to be a part of
their educational development. My time as a student teacher has been the most educational period of
professional life. As I reflect on individual days, lessons or full unit plans I have been able to grow as a educator
and learn methods that work for my students and what can be done to adjust those lessons to meet the needs of
those who are in need of a different approach.
I am enthusiastic and ready to begin the next step by working in a classroom that I can build a team
environment not only with my class, but also across my entire grade level. I have worked within 1st grade class
room for 3 semesters at Miller Valley Elementary providing one-on-one reading assistance, interning Ira. Murphy
Elementary, and student teaching at Sahuaro Elementary. I will be able to apply my experience to help students
further their skills across the curriculum and having been at many schools have learned a lot of effective methods
for classroom management. I am open to suggestions, criticisms or compliments that will help me gain the tools
needed to become an effective professional.
I want to thank both Mrs. Menendez and any staff member who reads this for taking the time to review my
letter and resume. My greatest hope is to make this a valuable learning experience for all the students as well as
myself. If there are any questions or concerns please feel to ask me or you can contact my Clinical Experience
Instructor Michel Amrein who can be reached on her office phone at 602-525-2886 or through her email at
Michele.Amrein@asu.edu.
Sincerely,

Mr. Michael-Paul Cotter
