dishes and some characteristics of each one of
them. There is a map to explain where this dish is
from.

SHOPPING LIST
Group work

Explanation of the following activity. In 5 table


groups they will be given a photo of a typical dish in
Spain and will have to guess the ingredients. These
have to be written in a shopping list Lista de la
compra in Spanish so there will be a slide in the
whiteboard with all the ingredients needed to cook
the food in Spanish.

GOING TO THE MARKET


Group work
- When the shopping list is done, one member of each
group will go to the back of the class, where there
will be an area will pictures of all the ingredients.
- The students will have to pick up the ingredients
needed to make their dish.
EXPLANATION OF THE INGREDIENTS
Whole group class
- The teacher will read out loud all the ingredients
needed to cook the dishes. Emphasise on the
pronunciation of the ingredients, especially:
Juda/Ajo (j sounds like a tiger)
Arroz (two r multiply their power and sound like
a motorbike)

CHECKING THE INGREDIENTS


Whole group class and table groups

Each group will read out loud the ingredients they


think are necessary to cook the dich. The teacher
will always check pronunciation and correct when
needed.
Explanation of the ingredients needed to cook each
typical dish. The students will have to repeat all the
ingredients to practise the pronunciation.

POLITICAL SITUATION IN SPAIN


Whole group class

Explanation of the Spanish Civil War and what


happened. Ask the students if they know what a
civil war is.
Explanation of Francos dictatorship. Ask if they
know who Franco was.
Transition to a democratic country and that Spain is
now organised with a parliament.
Current situation is Spain with no official president
as there were elections in December.
There are two pictures of politicians who dont look
like them but who are in in fact politicians in the
Spanish Parliament.

Answer any question related to the history and


political situation in Spain.
Answer any other questions they may have related
to Spain.
