Reflection #3
Whats a day in my life like? Its a lot harder than the people around the UNC Charlotte
campus think. Being one of the many geese that have decided to make this campus their home, I
find tons of difficulties in my everyday life. A lot of students and workers just think were stupid,
annoying geese, which makes us SUPER mad! I remember one day hearing a tour guide telling
the incoming freshman to watch out for the geese. No one gets that were extremely harmless.
I guess I can see why a lot of people are afraid of us, because we hiss so much, but thats
just to teach them a lesson and not to bother us. So many humans try to pick with us and chase us
off so obviously were going to hiss! Ive been trying to tell the other geese to quit leaving their
waste on the side walk; at least leave it in the grass, but no one ever listens to me. When it gets
warm, we really love to swim in the ponds to cool off, but not when people are throwing
wrappers or their stinky cigarette butts in our swimming area. Youd think you humans would
have a little more respect for us since weve been here so long.
If any human reads this, please know we mean no harm! If you give us our space we will
give you yours. Maybe you and your friends could throw some bread to us every once in a while,
we do get hungry during these cold months. Oh, and Ill try to keep the waste thing to a
minimum, especially if we get that bread I mentioned.
