The quality of water should be good

because it is one of the parameters which
decide the strength of concrete.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS :
1. The strength of concrete or mortar made
with the available water is comparable
with concrete or mortar made with pure
water .

2. The pH value of water should be between 6- 8.
3. The turbidity should be less than 2000 ppm.
4. Water should be free from organic matter.
5. The best method which can be adopted is
making concrete with available water and
compare its 7 day & 28 day cube strength with
concrete cubes made with distilled water.

QUALITY OF WATER
6. The initial setting time of test block made
with cement and available water shall not
differ by + 30 minutes from the initial
setting time of the test block with same
cement & distilled water.
