Indirect Guidance Plan
When you are working with children it is very important that you
have a welcoming, child-sized, spacious, organized, and safe
environment. The way the classroom schedule is arrange should also
provide children with the opportunity to make simple, independent
decisions. It should also provide ways to increase their physical,
emotional, social, cognitive and language domains.
Whenever families enter the classroom they want to feel
welcomed. The environment should be welcoming to the children as
well. As the children arrive and do their attendance they will pick up
the picture of themselves and place them on a flannel board. One
of the best things that you can do to make children feel welcomed is
acknowledge them as people. Another is to make sure you have the
correct materials they need in the classroom. You want to make sure
that all things are at a nice level so that the children can express
their independence by being able to accomplish doing things
without the teachers help.

The way the classroom is set up will also set rules for what the
children can and cannot do. You want space for children to be able
to maneuver around the classroom to prevent accidents. We also
want to make sure that the space given does not promote running
and rough play that is to occur in an outside environment. The
classroom is also organized and everything in the classroom should
be labeled. When the children take things down they should be
areas labeled for children to put items back to keep the room
organized and so everyone in the classroom can find materials
without going on a treasure hunt. The classroom is also arranged in a
special way. The centers that create a lot of noise should be
separated from the centers that are quiet.
My schedule is arranged to give children the necessary tools to
increase the different areas of their domains. We want children to
stay entertained and focused. We want them to develop that
competence they need by knowing what is going on in their daily
schedule. It is also very important to give children plenty of time to
socialize and practice solving conflicts on their own. With that open

time, and the different activities we do in the classroom I want
children to start to find a little of who they are, what they like, and
what they are capable of.
