A Software Engineer/Developer is an
individual who applies the principles of
software engineering to the design,
development, maintenance, testing, and
evaluation of the software work. Software
Engineer/Developers have the unique ability
to work with any company that wishes to
develop software that benefits the company,
consumer, patients, etc.
 What I want to do is work for a tech
company and design components to that
company’s software. For example, designing
new apps for Google and further developing
apps that Google already has.

There are numerous personality types that can go into
becoming a software Engineer/Developer. Each one
greatly contributes to an independent and team effort.
 A passionate person is the most important trait an
engineer can have. Programming cannot be done
lackadaisically and requires your full effort for the best
results. You have to be interested and enjoy your job or
else it will have negative consequences.
 Patience and keeping a calm composure is key when
becoming a Software Engineer/Developer. When doing
something as precise as programming, you will make
mistakes time after time, so it is important to keep calm,
figure out the conflict, and solve it in a precise way.
 You not only need to be independent, you also need to
able to work with a team. Some engineers may have to
work with multiple teams at one time. It is important to be
a good team player.

Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify
the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions,
conclusions or approaches to problems.

Complex Problem Solving-  Identifying complex problems
and reviewing related information to develop and
evaluate options and implement solutions.

Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors
and deciding what to do about it.

Active Learning-  Understanding the implications of new
information for both current and future problem-solving
and decision-making.

Education varies on which company you choose to work for.
Most companies around the world prefer a Bachelor's degree.
There is a small percentage of companies that prefer a
Master's degree, however. The fields that are best would be
Computer Science, software engineering, or any related field.

for establishing an IT career. If you’re new to the IT industry,
this will help you put your best foot forward.

Employment of software developers is
projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to
2024, much faster than the average for
all occupations. The main reason for the
rapid growth in both applications
developers and systems developers is a
large increase in the demand for
computer software. For example, more
computer systems are being built into
consumer electronics and other
products, such as cell phones and

You may work in any place that feels as
though they need a Software
Engineer/Developer. Wherever there is a
company, there is an opportunity to work
for them. There are jobs available in almost
every country around the globe. Another
thing about software development is that
it can be completely independent without
a company. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are
examples of people who started without a
company and ended up creating empires
as tech companies. You can practically
work anywhere and everywhere.

This profession is not for everyone. I have
a passion for created new things that
could possibly change how we do things.
I also want to improve on the resources
we already have. When looking for a
career, you have to have a passion for it.
Choosing a job based completely off
salary or conditions sometimes works
out, but not all the time. Good Luck!
