Q17: Please provide comments in regards to the student teacher's strengths and areas for improvement.
-Classroom management and student engagement were clearly strengths. For examples, she started a Class Dojo
system; high-fives and compliments students appropriately; gives clear directions and sets expectations; makes sure all
transitions are quick and quiet; and provides brain breaks.
-Instruction for math was done in small group. During my observation, she constantly asked students to explain their
strategy and prompted appropriately. The students were asked to solve problems using trial and error, a creative and
effective way to provide guided practice.
-Her read-aloud had pre-planned questions and opportunities for turn and talk. There was a clear focus and it was wellplanned.
