Physical Disabilities

This is all semi-fit

to students with
disabilities. Every
disability is
different, however
the many
resources
technology offers
helps with this. It
can show students
things visually as
well as auditory.
This statement
applies to the
second matrix as
well.
This statement
applies to the
third matrix as
well.
Google treks
would help many
students with
disabilities
because it makes
the information
visual.
Technology often
helps students
with physical
disabilities
because it takes

Gifted/ Talented

less fine-motor
movement to use
an ipad than to
write with a
pencil.
This applies to the
second matrix as
well.
This applies to the
third matrix as

This applies to the
third matrix as

Students with
emotional
disabilities or
autism could be
gifted and
talented, they
could put in more
research into the
assignments and
go into more
detail.
Additionally, each
assignment in
special education
would be tailormade for the
student.
This works for the
second matrix as
well.
This statement
applies to the
third matrix as
well. Advanced
students could
make their own
Google treks
rather than doing
it as a class.

Other
Reflection:
This matrix made me realize how hard it is to fit technology to Early Childhood Special Education because every childs education plan is different. The likelihood that
small children with disabilities will be making an eportfolio or website is not likely. The teacher could make one to facilitate learning, but the students will not likely be directly
involved with the process. Everything here is hypothetical. Its hard enough to use eportfolios and websites with young children, but its even harder when they have disabilities.
The uploading stories seems like a good idea to facilitate parent participation and inclusion, but the rest is a bit of a stretch.

This matrix was difficult for me because I generally think that children with special needs should be taught hands-on. However, presentations like this might work better
for certain disabilities, such as physical disabilities in which students cant perform hands-on activities. Presentations wouldnt work as well for math either; I feel this is best
explained by modeling. A lot of the presentations Ive experienced in class are filled with information on slides that the professor then just reads word for word. This would not
capture young students attention, so they would have to be done creatively.
Videos are great learning tools for young children. Children get very excited when they get movie time, so videos are a fun way for them to learn. Videos also help aid
students with disabilities because they can re-watch the information as many times as necessary. Videos can be used to show most anything, so they are a great teaching tool,
however it is important not to use them too often. It is also important to make sure the videos are entertaining or else the children wont pay attention.
I really enjoyed making my own Google trek, which makes me excited to use them within my own class. There are so many different areas in which they can be applied.
They help make any geographical travel visual and easy to follow. I would definitely use this in my class, especially with books involving travel.
