1. Explain the followings
( Marks – 08)
a. Need of earthing at substations and buildings.
b. MCB, MCCB and ELCB
c. Main board and distribution board

d. If calculated value of load current in a single point is 2.4 Ampere, then
what would be the rating of cable to be selected? Comment.
2. Define the followings with its significance,
(Marks – 06)
a. Luminous flux, luminance intensity, Illuminance and Luminaire
b. Maintenance factor
c. CRI
3. A residential wiring has total of 3140 Watts. The building has, FTLs – 6 nos, Fan
– 3 nos,
5A plug point – 5 nos, Exhaust-fan – 1, Power plug – 2 nos. Draw a
single line diagram showing cutout, meter, main switch, main distribution board
and other equipment's. Make your own assumptions for number of electrical
points in each sub-circuit and find/calculate total length of cable, rating of main
switch and distribution board. Also
