Discussion
The experiment is about measured the density of water by using hydrometer and
differential pressure (DP) / level transmitter. Also, the aim of this experiment is to
check the calibration by using a hand pump, DP calibrator, Pressure Module, and
Hand Held Terminal. In this experiment, density measurement only measured with
heater off. One of the advantages of using a hydrometer is that it only involves taking
one measurement. This saves a lot of time have to take the measurement once which
in the long run saves money as well. Not only does it save on equipment costs, but it
also saves on staff wages if you are using a hydrometer for work related purposes
making it a quick and effective method of measuring liquids. By using hydrometer,
the density of water can be measured which is 970 kg/m3.
For the run 1 which is open tank, the temperature of water is 32C. This temperature
of water is approximately same with surrounding temperature. Besides, the actual
density at screen is 971 kg/m3. The actual density is very accurate compared to
hydrometer. This is because by using DP transmitter, the accurate value can be
obtained. Next, the density from table is 995.026 kg/m 3. By looking the temperature
that get before, the density can be measured. Commonly, the density that we get from
table is accurate and pure substance. Moreover, the deviation B from C is 24.026. This
deviation can get by differences between the density of water from the screen and the
density of water from table. Then, for the calculated specific gravity, using this
formula: Density of water at operating temperature, TG divided by the density of
water at reference temperature at 4C. The deviation E with hydrometer will get
directly from measured density by using hydrometer.
