Name:Desire Green

Project Start Date: February 1, 2016
Title of Project: Life in the Wrong Hands
Project Completion Date: 03/24/16

1. In 40 words or more describe your project and the steps you performed to complete it. What
did you produce or perform?
I produced a seminar that included information about my topic as well as strategies that I
have learned in the Legal Studies Academy. I spoke to students who have been in the medical
academy and mostly likely know more about medicine than I. I created a case and had the
students to create their own law firm name. After they cerated their law firm, they were given a
role of whether they would be defending the plaintiff or the defendant. Wth the case that was
given to them, they had to develop questions that they would like to ask the opposing side and
what they believe the decision should be and why. I later told them my opinion and guided them
to facts that they might not have realized were important in the case.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you, and what sort of time challenges
and resource problems did you encounter?

This project challenged me by having me to reach out to the medical academy
administrator to not only secure a basis for my audience but also a venue. I was also challenged
when having to teach the students what I have learned in the last four years of being in the
academy. I used methods that I was taught as a legal studies student to guide the students in
learning the case that I created. Lastly, I had to create a case that involved all the information
necessary for the students to come up with a possible conclusion.

3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned during your project.
I. IRAC
II. Standard of Care
III. Medical Malpractice
IV. types of Cancer Treatments
V. Types of Cancers (what treatments are best for each)
VI. legal questioning
VII. case evaluation

4. List and describe 5-8 problems you encountered in your project, and briefly describe how you
solved each.
I Time Management
VIII. creating a case
IX. finding a new photographer ten minutes before my project
X. finding a new guest speaker last minute
XI. public speaking
XII. securing the venue
XIII. advertising

5. Outline the process hours spent in completing the project.
6. List materials used.
I Poster Boards
XIV. markers
XV. pencils
XVI. Case sheets
XVII. IRAC sheets

7. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.
I Mr.Hodges, Consultant- Helped with project planning
XVIII. Tatiana Otero- Helped with creating details in the case
XIX. Arrian Green,Mother-Last minute creativity and helping with cost

8. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started
the project?
My completed project turned out better than my vision. I had a lot of people attend my
project and had a great guest speaker. Although my project didn't go perfectly, I can say that I
put my all into the finished product.
9. If given the opportunity, what would you do differently now that you speak from experience?
I would've liked to have one more guest speaker or have more time to teach the health and
science students about my experience in the academy.
10. Now that the project is completed, explain/describe the stretch or challenge you
encountered/experienced.
The challenge I encounter mainly had to focus on time and learning material that I
wanted to get through.

11. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?
I learned that although I can be controlling of how certain things happen, its good to have other
opinions to help. Sometimes others on the outside looking in can give you great advice,
motivation and ideas.
2. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words.
Grade: 92
Justification: I gave myself a 92 because I reached out to students in another school who are
aware of the medical portion of my project, however; were unaware of the legal perspective. I
spoke to not only students but some teacher about my project which challenged me to truly get
involved with my topic and learn the details and statistics. My project did not go perfectly. I was
nervous in my speech and due to the time limit and the complex system of IRAC, I had to
discard the research portion of the system. The finished product resulted in the students

learning more about medical malpractice and getting involved in the process of developing legal
questions.
