The description of (script for) the lesson, wherein you describe teacher
activities and student activities
Yesterday, we created an outline to write a letter to our government! Today, we will
be taking that information and putting it into our letter!
(Show letter)
Lets work the whole time, making sure it is our best work, and then put it in this
envelope to send to the government employee!

Students work on transferring information either individually or in groups based on

skill level.

Students work until afternoon announcements, and put their work into an envelope
to send out their letters!

Your reflection on the lesson including ideas for improvement for next time:
The students had a hard time transferring the information from the outline to the letter, so I adjusted the
outline and letter to have symbols where they would match. This way, students do not have to be avid
readers to fill in the letter. Students also were all in different places during the letter writing, and it was
difficult to monitor student progress. Students who were absent only needed to fill in the outline this time,
but were unsure of the goal, and it was hard for them to work the entire time. Overall, student work was
excellent, and they were eager to hear back about the rec center!
