creation of laws? In your opinion, why create laws? What do laws represent to not only society as a whole, but also to the individual citizens and legislators within this society? Explain your rationale.
Laws are necessary to curb criminal activity, bring peace to communities, and to keep victims and people accused of crimes protected. Laws mean that each person can be safe, that they do not have to worry about someone taking away their property, and that society just works better all together. When the legislature is deciding which laws to make and enforce, they need to keep these factors in mind. Jails and prisons are a tool that the government uses to maintain the standards of society by keeping offenders “off the streets” and showing that laws are serious and meant to be enforced. The criminal justice system is charged with protecting “life, liberty, and property” and keeping all of society safe. Particular people, legislators, and each part of society needs laws. They provide safety and order. If laws did not exist society would fall into anarchy.
