Bullying
Thesis statement: there are many people out in the world that doesnt believe that bullying is a
serious issue, there is something that should be done to help out children that are being bullied.
Bullying has a big impact in childrens life it can cause suicide or depression. A lot of kids are
scared to speak up about what happens to them but that should never happen there should be a
change where kids can come up to an adult and talk about the problems they may be having with
the students around them.
Position: there should be help in public schools for bullying
Argument1. Kids will be mean but its just a part of life. Everyone was raised differently from
other people so in some terms, different people do not get along.
Argument 2: bullying isnt a crime its just a problem.
Argument 3: kids just are just expressing themselves.
Counter argument: children need to know that bullying really hurts people and they need to stop.

Bullying has been a debatable topic for many years. The percentages of bullying were a
lot lower back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s than they are now
(https://sites.psu.edu/johngorgone/2013/11/11/argumentcounter-argument-on-bullying/) . My
argument is that high school bullying should have its end. It is time for the students, family
members, and teachers to make more moves to prevent the terrible tragedy from happening.
Many kids take their lives every year basically because the kids around them either make fun of
who they are, what they have, their culture, there ethnicity, how they dress or how they look.
Kids will look for anything to pick a fight or try to impress or just stand out. This brings us to our
next topic on how people believe that bullying shouldnt be a crime.

People believe that bullying should become a law and or illegal. While the AntiBullying Bill of Rights has grand intentions and is extremely purposeful with its agenda, it fails
to specifically address cyber crimes
(http://www.alligator.org/opinion/columns/article_bc5a5a1c-eb13-11e0-8cbc001cc4c03286.html) People may believe that bullying isnt such a huge deal and it shouldnt be
handle as a crime but what bullying does can have severe consequences. Many kids take their
lives every year basically because the kids around them either make fun of who they are or how
the want to live their lives. Teasing and picking on someone to an extent to where that person
kills themselves is cruel and inhumane. Kind of sounds like second degree murder to me doesnt
it? Which brings up the topic about how kids want to fit in.
The sad thing that many kids dont realize is the tolerance other people may have towards
the rude gestures or comments people have towards them. Recently, a 15-year-old freshman
high school student, Phoebe Prince, committed suicide because of prolonged cyberbullying from
a group of girls who harassed her for dating an older football player. Students would scream at
her from one side of the library, calling her derogatory names.
(http://wellbeingfoundation.com/bullying.html). Everyone was raised and grown to be different
people so in some terms, different people do not get along which causes problems. Some kids
were also raised by parents that may not like certain things about people like there race or they
teach there kids to believe in stereotypes. The third argument suggests that kids express
themselves which means that some kids that are doing the bullying mightve been bullied in
there life before so to make themselves feel better about there physical appearance or

8289039

emotionally they pick on other kids. The kids were expressing how they feel some mightve been
jealous of her or just ran along with the group to be cool or fit in.
In conclusion people should understand how severe bullying can be and how difficult it
can be for kids trying to stay out of the way of bullies many schools should have a meeting with
all kids and talk about the punishments bullying can have. SELF CONFIDENCE IS THE
GREATEST GIFT WE CAN GIVE OUR CHILDREN national bullying prevention center
people should speak up and not be afraid to tell the bully to stop together kids around the world
and in schools can make a difference in the community.
The graph shows how students have been experiencing bullying in the past years the percentage
of students being bullied has decreased then increased again. You may bot always see someone
get bullied on a daily basis but stand up and make a difference never be scared because no matter

In discussions of bullying in high school as well as cyber bullying, an ongoing point of

controversy is the question how it could be prevented. While some supporters argue to stop the
bullying, others contend that bullying could never be prevented in the schools environment,
however, the most useful perspective on the issue on bullying is that schools authorities should
take more actions. I am a former victim of bullying myself. What is bullying exactly? Bullying is
described as repeated verbal, physical, social or psychological behavior that is harmful and
involves the misuse of power by an individual or group towards one or more person. It can have
long-term effects on those involved. With that being stated what can be said about bullying?
Honestly it is a natural part of life that everyone unfortunately is going to have to put up with one
way or another. Bullying can be done in the following ways face to face with examples such as
name calling; at a distance such as spreading rumors or cyber bullying. Today the first two are
starting to disappear. However, the third method cyber bullying is getting more and more
common. We now live in 21st century; and with our advancements in technology we have created
new means of staying in contact with people. This gives leeway to the potential bullies to target
an individual and harass them. Due to the amount of social media presents; people can form new
ways to harass others. Bullying is getting worse. It solely depends on the situation at hand.
Cameron Conaway, an MMA fighter turned poet and writer explores just what he believe is
causing bullying to become worse. Within his articles he gives five valid reason that he believe is
causing bullying to become worse as time elapses. ( http://goodmenproject.com/featuredcontent/5-reasons-why-bullying-is-getting-worse). First Conaway discusses technology can
contribute to an increase in bullying. Conaway states that technology allows children to bully in
new ways due to this they are unable to relate to each other feel empathy or any other form of
compassion. Next Conaway states that technology that the lack physical education can be a point

that can cause bullying. Basically he puts it as if we Americans are compensating due to the fact
that China is focusing more on intellect than physical education. Therefore if there is a lack of
physical education then perhaps we all should place more emphasis on physical education.
The next argument that Conaway brings to our attention is the emphasis on nutrition. I do agree
that nutrition is indeed very important and a balanced diet can lead to some amazing turnouts.
Conaway believes that there is way too much of feeding our children with fatty junk food. He
believes that a healthy diet with real food can help children handle stress. Based on this point; we
need to focus more on feeding our children with natural fruits and vegetables.
Next Conaway places a point upon the educational system. His argument states that due to the
focusing of educational standards on standardized testing this tends to suck the life out of the
children. So if the children have the life sucked out of them then this creates a breeding
ground for bullying. Last point that Conaway bring to our attention is the matter of parenting.
Parenting is where a lot of the bullying begins. There are some tool like creating teachable
moments, talking about difficult issues, handling stressors etc. that could help on how a parent
raises their children. Parents influence how other children view their peers. They can also
influence just how they can deal with bullying if their child is the one being bullied. There needs
to be raised awareness on the signs of bullying.

The effect of bullying

Bullying can affect everyone to those who are being bullied to the bully and to those who witness
it happen. Bullying is linked to many negative outcomes including impacts on mental health,
substance use, and suicide. It is important to talk to kids to determine whether bullying or
something else is a concern. Depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and
loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities they used to
enjoy. These issues may persist into adulthood.
Although kids who are bullied are at risk of suicide, bullying alone is not the cause.

intervention.html?referrer=https://www.google.com/). Many issues contribute to suicide risk,

including depression, problems at home, and trauma history. This risk can be increased further
when these kids are not supported by parents, peers, and schools. Bullying can make an
unsupportive situation worse. Preventing and stopping bullying involves a commitment to
creating a safer environment where children can thrive socially and academically, without being
afraid. Actions can be taken to stop your child from being the bully. These children often need
help in developing empathy, and knowing just what your childs behavior is. So the whole point
is bullying needs to end. Bullying is unacceptable action and I a victim of such an action.
Bullying needs to end.
