NLSPA ETABS Problem statement

Problem Statement

The problem is divided for symmetry and asymmetry bays in plan of a bare frame of
G+9 storey structure of floor to floor height of 3m.

6.1 Assumptions:
1. Structure is without infill walls.
2. No special moment or shear resisting elements provided.
3. The structure is only loaded with its self-weight and live load.

6.2 Specified material properties:
1. Compressive strength of concrete
The grade of concrete is a taken as M25. Thus the characteristic strength of
concrete after 28 days of curing is 25 N/mm2.
2. Weight per unit volume
The specific mass of concrete grade M25 is taken as 2430 kg/m 3. Hence the
specific weight can be calculated by multiplying it by gravitational acceleration i.e.
9.81 m/sec2. The calculated specific weight is 23838.3 kN/m3.
3. Modulus of elasticity
The modulus of elasticity is found out using formula,
Ec = 5000 √ fck
The elastic modulus obtained for M25 is 25000 N/mm2.
4. Poisson’s Ratio
The Poisson’s ratio is used by default as 0.2.

6.3 Assigned member properties:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Beam – 300mm x 600mm
Column – 600mm x 600mm
Slab – 125mm thk.
Live load - 3 kN/m2
Rigid Diaphragm per floor
