INTRODUCTION:An H-bridge is an electronic circuit that enables a voltage to be applied across a

load in either direction. These circuits are often used in robotics to allow dc motors to run
forward and backward. It is generally used to reverse the direction of motor, but it can also use to
brake the motor as the motor terminals are shorted. The common use of H-bridge is as an
inverter. It will generate a square wave voltage across the load. DC brush motor are required for
a broad range of equipments like portable electronics, appliances, medical devices and
automotive applications etc. Most DC-to-AC converters (power inverters), most AC/AC
converters, the DC-to-DC pushpull converter, most motor controllers, and many other kinds of
power electronics use H bridges. In particular, a bipolar stepper motor is almost invariably driven
by a motor controller containing two H bridges.

DETAILS OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS:1. RESISTORS:It is a passive two terminal device that implements electrical resistance as
a circuit element. They may be used to reduce current flow but at the same time the may
act to lower the voltage levels within the circuits. Practically they are discrete
components that are composed of various compounds and forms.

2. TRANSISTORS:-

It is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic

signals and electrical power. It is composed of semiconductor material with at least three
terminals for connection to an external circuit. Transistor has an ability to use small
signal that is applied between one pair of its terminal to control a much larger signal at
another pair of terminals. This property is known as gain.

3. DIODES:It is a two terminal device that allows the current to pass in one direction and
blocks in the opposite direction. This unidirectional behavior is known as rectification,
and it is used to convert alternating current to direct current. A semiconductor diode is a
crystalline piece of semiconductor material with p-n junction connected to two electrical
terminals.

4. DC BRUSH MOTOR:It is an internally commutated electric motor designed to be run

from a direct current power source. When the coil is powered, a magnetic field is
generated around the armature. The left side of armature is pushed away from the left
magnet and drawn toward right causing rotation. When the armature becomes
horizontally aligned, the torque becomes zero, at this point the commutator reverses the
direction of current.
