HYDRAULIC TURNING GEAR

HYDRAULIC TURNING GEAR IS LOCATED IN THE BEARING PEDESTAL BETWEEN IP AND LP


TURBINE.TG SHAFT SYSTEM ROTATED BY A DOUBLE ROW BLADE WHEEL, WHICH IS DRIVEN BY
OIL SUPPLIED BY AOP.OIL FROM AOP FLOWS THROUGH A GATE VALVE GEARING AND A NOZZLE
BOX.
LOGICS: PERMISSIVES: (FOR OPENING GVG)
1. DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE BETWEEN GENERATOR SEAL OIL AND HYDROGEN SHOULD BE > 0.9
KSC (SENSED BY PS MKW 01 CP 003)
2. GENERATOR SEAL OIL PRESSURE-TURBINE SIDE- SHOULD BE > 3.8 KSC (SENSED BY PS-MKW
01 CP 001)
3. GENERATOR SEAL OIL PRESSURE-EXCITATION SIDE- SHOULD BE > 3.8 KSC (SENSED BY PSMKW 01 CP 002)
4. TURBINE SPEED SHOULD BE > 15 RPM (SENSED BY MYA 01 FS 001)
5. LUB OIL PRESSURE BEFORE THRUST BEARING IS > 1.2 KSC
GATE VALVE GEARING WILL OPEN ON AUTO WHEN TG SPEED < 200 RPM AND CLOSES ON AUTO
WHEN TG SPEED > 250RPM
GATE VALVE GEARING WILL CLOSE ON PROTECTION WHEN THE LUB OIL PRESSURE BEFORE
THRUST BEARING IS < 1.2 KSC
SLC OF GATE VALVE GEARING WILL GET SWITCHED OFF AND GETS PROTECTION CLOSED WHEN
FIRE PROTECTION-II IS OPERATED
ALARMS:
SLC TURNING GEAR NOT ON WILL APPEAR WHEN SLC GATE VALVE GEARING IS OFF AND HP
CASING TOP 50% METAL TEMPERATURE IS > 120 DEG
GATE VALVE GEARING NOT CLOSED WILL APPEAR WHEN THE TG SPEED > 540RPM AND GVG IS
NOT CLOSED
JOP LOGICS:
AUTO STARTING OF JOP:
WHEN SLC OF JOP: 1 IS ON AND THE TURBINE SPEED < 510 RPM, JOP: 1 WILL COME INTO
SERVICE
WHEN LUB OIL PRESSURE AFTER THRUST BEARING IS < 1.2 KSC

WHEN SLC OF JOP: 2 IS ON, JOP: 2 WILL COME INTO SERVICE AND ALSO JOP: 1 & ITS SLC IS
SWITCHED OFF IF,
A. TG SPEED IS < 510 RPM AND JOP HEADER PRESSURE IS LESS THAN 100 KSC (SENSED BY PSMAV 35 CP 001)
(OR)
B. TG SPEED IS < 510 RPM AND JOP:1 TRIPS ELECTRICAL INTERLOCK (OR)
C. FIRE PROTECTION II IS OPERATED
AUTO STOPPING OF JOP:
JOP: 1 SWITCHED OFF IF, TG SPEED > 540 RPM (OR)
JOP: 2 STARTS ON LOGIC (OR) FIRE PROTECTION II IS OPERATED
JOP: 2 WILL NOT GET STOPPED AUTOMATICALLY.
FIRE PROTECTION:
FIRE PROTECTION II IS OPERATED,
JOP 2 WILL COME INTO SERVICE ON PROTECTION,
JOP 1 IS STOPPED AND
SLCS OF BOTH JOPS ARE SWITCHED OFF
ALARMS:
SLC JACKING SYSTEM NOT ON ALARM APPEARS WHEN SLC OF JOP:1 IS OFF (OR) SLC OF JOP:2
IS OFF AND WHEN THE TG SPEED > 15 RPM
JACKING OIL PRESSURE LOW ALARM APPEARS WHEN JACKING OIL HEADER PRESSURE DROPS
< 100 KSC (SENSED BY MAV 35 CP 011)

CONTROL VALVES
TRIP OIL:

DEVELOPS FROM CONTROL OIL AFTER RESETTING TURBINE.


USED FOR OPENING AND CLOSING OF ALL TURBINE STOP
VALVES, AND TO GENERATE SECONDARY OILS. TURBINE
TRIPPED ALARM IS TAKEN FROM THE TRIP OIL PRESSURE
SWITCH

AUX-TRIP OIL: WHENEVER HYDRAULIC PROTECTION DEVICES LIKE OVER SPEED,


CONDENSER VACUUM
AND AXIAL SHIFT DEVICES ACTS, THIS AUX TRIP OIL GETS KILLED, CAUSES
TRIP OIL
TO DRAIN AT MAIN TRIP VALVE AND TURBINE TO TRIP.
START-UP OIL: GENERATES FROM CONTROL OIL WHEN STARTING DEVICE IS BROUGHT TO
MINIMUM POSITION
AUX START UP OIL:
GENERATES FROM CONTROL OIL ALONG WITH START-UP OIL. THIS AUX
START UP OIL
GENERATES TRIP OIL AND AUX TRIP OIL. THIS OIL RESETS ALL HYDRAULIC
PROTECTION
DEVICES.
DRAIN OIL:
RETURN OIL FROM ALL BEARINGS, DEVICES AND GOVERNING RACKS

TEST OIL:

GENERATED MANUALLY FOR ACTUATING THE OVER SPEED TEST DEVICE.

AUX SECONDARYISOIL:
THE OUTPUT OF BOTH STARTING DEVICE AND
SPEEDER GEAR. THIS OIL IS THE INPUT SIGNAL FOR MHG
SECONDARY OIL:IS THE OUTPUT OF MHG/EHC (SOURCE: TRIP OIL) HP SEC. OIL
IS THE SIGNAL OIL FOR OPEN/CLOSE OF HPCV. IP SEC. OIL IS
THE SIGNAL OIL FOR OPEN/CLOSE OF IPCV
PRIMARY OIL: DEVELOPS FROM MAIN OIL PUMP SHAFT. THIS OIL PRESSURE IS
USED AS SPEED
FEEDBACK IN SPEEDER GEAR, IN HYDRAULIC CONDENSER
PROTECTION FOR
CUTTING IN/OUT THE PROTECTION DEVICE.
