INTERFACE

1) The safe operation alongside a


terminal is based on safety regulations ,
good communication and the best
possible co-operation between ship and
terminal .
2) The ship and the terminal have a
mutual duty to exchange the necessary
information preparatory to berthing.
3) List of information to be made
available by the terminal in the case of
loading and/or discharging.

4) List of information to be made


available by the vessel in the case of
loading and/or discharging.
5) The responsibility for correct and safe
operations in port is divided between the
master ,port captain and terminal
manager.
6) The master should ensure proper
liaisoning between ship and terminal.
7) Prior to any loading or discharging
operation, a pre cargo transfer meeting

- be held between the responsible


personnel from the ship and the terminal.
8) List of general subjects to be discussed
in a pre cargo transfer meeting .
9) The ship/shore safety checklist should
be completed jointly by the responsible
persons on board and on the terminal.
10) General contents of checklist and
explanation of the reasons for and the
relevancy of the items to check.

11) List of the safety precautions and


procedures for personnel on watch prior
to and during cargo transfer operations.
