In 1933 the Holocaust began. Many Jews were persecuted and killed. During the Holocaust the Jews had to face many hardships and overcome many obstacles. A few conditions that the Jews had to face were lack of food and extreme weather conditions. The lack of food brought on mental anguish that was son followed by the Jews turning on each other just to get a piece of bread. Another thing they had to endure was the cold. The SS officers would make the Jews line up, march, or just stand outside for punishment. The Jews wouldn’t have on many clothes so they got frostbite in some cases that resulted in the loss of body parts. An imprisoned Jew needed to have certain characteristics if they planned on surviving. If they could they needed to save every bit of food that they could in case the SS officers gave no food out to the men. They also might have wanted to be strong and in good health. The lack of food and the extreme cold would diminish a person’s health so they needed to be “extra healthy.” Other things a Jew in the camp needed to be or have are as follows. They needed to have hope. Hope would get them through certain obstacles.
They needed not to be effected by the emotional trauma, if there was any, because of their family missing. If the prisoner had to face many hardships earlier life, these camps wouldn’t have been “as bad.” There are many things that “determined” a Jews chance of survival. Anyone who hasn’t had to go through the Holocaust should be grateful because no one knows the trouble, the ones who survived, went through to get here.
