At any wood processing plants often encountered sawdust sawmill which is a waste cutting
results. processing sawmill residual powder still can not be used optimally. Sawdust or wood
powder is industrial waste, as long as this waste wood dust causes a lot of problems in handling
the left to rot, piled and burned which can have negative impacts on the environment so that
countermeasures should be considered one of the ways is to utilize sawdust into materials of
value-added with high technology applied to one as additive for concrete.
This study had begun with an examination of such material, sieve analysis of aggregates,
aggregate specific gravity, unit weight of aggregate, checks the levels of sludge aggregate, coarse
aggregate wear resistance and preliminary testing to determine the quality of wood used. Once it
was done mix design and manufacture a wide range of proportions of the sample with the
addition of a mixture of sawdust. Followed by testing the physical properties of concrete, the
concrete compressive strength testing, testing of concrete elastic modulus and tensile strength of
concrete split at 28 days.
The test results of concrete at 28 days showed that the concrete with the addition of
wood dust could affect the weight of concrete, where concrete was becoming increasingly lighter
weight of the concrete, namely a decrease of 0.63%, 1.187%, 2.183% and 2.69% of normal
concrete. The addition of wood dust could increase the compressive strength and modulus of
elasticity of concrete on the addition of 1% wood flour increased by 13.728% and 0.36% of the
normal concrete, but the addition of a greater percentage decline. As for the value of tensile
strength of concrete fell apart, where the value of the highest decline in the addition of 0.5% with
the decline amounted to 15.585% of the concrete without the addition of a mixture of sawdust.
