Digital Age Learning Environments

Artifact 1
I. Title: Instructional Design Project
II. Description: During this project I worked collaboratively with three of my classmates to
design technology-enhanced instruction. The team members collaboratively worked with a client
who was a middle school teacher to develop a blended learning environment. This project
represents a lesson developed for online learning.
III. Course: MEDT-7464 Designing Technology-Enhanced Instruction
IV. Conceptual Framework Descriptors:
Adaptive: We believe that candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness
to attempt promising new approaches for effective educational improvement.
Leading: We believe that candidates should be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills to
initiate and facilitate educational improvement.
Knowledgeable: We believe that candidates should be able to demonstrate general knowledge
inherent in a liberal arts curriculum, advanced knowledge in content areas, proficiency in
technology, and specific knowledge in professional education.
Collaborative: We believe that candidates should be able to develop skills to work effectively
with various stakeholders involved in the educational process.

Artifact 2
I. Title: Re-Design of Instructional Materials
II. Description: One key element learned in this course was that Mayers cognitive theory of
multimedia learning and Paivios theory of human cognition. The purpose of this project was to

re-design instructional materials to incorporate elements from Richard Mayers cognitive theory
of multimedia learning and dual coding theory proposed by Allan Paivio.
III. Course: MEDT-7490 Visual & Media Literacy for Teaching & Learning
Reflection:
This project was enlightening as it provided me with knowledge and skills to utilize the
principals for effective multimedia learning. The process of seeking and reviewing instructional
materials enabled to develop a discerning eye for effective evaluation of how to re-design the
instructional materials. The knowledge and skills developed from this artifact will prove to be
essential in future development of instructional materials.
