The earth can be grouped into four subsystems that all interact with each other.

These four subsystems are known as land, water, air and living things. Each subsystem is known as a sphere and each sphere has a name. Their names are lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. Each group can depend on another for survival. For example, all living things require air and water to survive. Plant and other things of that nature create oxygen, but in order for the plants to grow they require land in which to grow. Each of the four subsystems cause byproducts which affect one another and without each other they are not possible. Living things such as trees, need air, water and land in order to survive. Land provides nourishment, water provides the life line, and air allows all of the living things the ability to breathe. Each category contains many sects. The atmosphere has all of the earth’s air, the biosphere is made up of all of the earth’s living things, the hydrosphere is made up of all solid, liquid and gaseous water and the lithosphere is made up of solid, cold land on the surface of the earth. Although each of these sphere’s could be divided up into subspheres, our planet is can be grouped into these four major spheres.
