2010 Hurricane Season Outlook

• “Normal" season has 11 named storms, 6 hurricanes & 2 major hurricanes

• NOAA's National Hurricane Center predicting very active season

– 14-23 named storms – 8-14 hurricanes

• 3-7 becoming major hurricanes

• Projection due to:

– warmer than normal waters in Atlantic – demise of El Nino in Pacific – favorable upper level wind conditions
