BS OUTS: 3 step SLANT. Must attack the INSIDE LEG of the DB over you. Adjust angle of break based on alignment of SLANT. CB.INSIDE: 2 step SLANT. Must attack the INSIDE LEG of the man over you. LOOKIE adjustment if man over you widens! BS SLANT. FS INSIDE: FLARE. Split at least 5 yards off T/TE, deepen slightly, because ball must be caught behind L.O.S. Push off FLARE. slightly, inside foot (“Speed skater step”), keeping shoulders parallel to LOS, gain width fast. Turn head to QB on 2nd step, keeping shoulders square, find ball. R.A.C. course is just like Sweep--trust your speed, stretch it to the outside, cut up only off the block of #1! MUST FALL ON INCOMPLETE PASS - POSSIBLE LATERAL! #1! FS OTHER: STALK. Identify the man ON to INSIDE you and stalk his OUTSIDE SHOULDER. Break down EARLY! Vs. an STALK. outside press CB (Cov 2), use quick “Roadrunner” technique. Can “Crack” across the board v. man coverage. QB: Pre-snap read the “Flare Box.” If blockers are equal to or greater than defenders in the Flare box, throw FLARE off 2nd step--firm ball 6” in front of Flare man. Pedal backward right after the throw. If your Flare man is covered down, work the backside Slant(s) off a 3-step drop as you normally would in 99.

CENTER: LATER rules. 60-70 set for a 2 second count, then release full speed to the “B” lane, block first wrong“B colored jersey anticipating the FS LB being in your course. FS G: LATER rules. 60-70 set for a 2 second count, release flat, full speed to the “A” lane, block first wrong-colored “A jersey. If 1st wrong-jersey is cracked (which it should be), continue on flat path, searching for someone until you reach the numbers, then turn up. As you pass set “eye the spy.” FS T: “OPEN THE WINDOW.” You do this by retreating in your demeanor as fast as you can, showing hands, selling “Hinge,” avoiding engagement as long as your man will rush upfield. Keep inside leverage as you do this. If he stops or crosses your face, redirect off your outside foot and drive him into the pile! YOU ARE THE GUY THAT MAKES THIS PLAY GO! FS Inside: SEAM. Get out of Dodge.

FS Outside: LEVELS CRACK. Crack the first short Screen Man: Hide yourself in the traffic of the frontside linemen defender inside you. Work 9 technique to 1st LB to safety by keeping your pads low, and “time it” so that you’re arriving in level. Push upfield as long and as deep as the alignment of the potential crack victims allow. THIS IS A CRITICAL the window at a spot 4 yards deep, 4 yards outside the tackle, BLOCK. Time it and don’t engage too soon! just as the linemen begin pulling. Turn and show numbers to QB as you arrive at the spot, being careful not to drift to the R: Fake the play call of the 2nd number. If no one else is sideline. Catch the ball, tuck it, and turn to find the kick-out indicated, you become the “Screen Man,” follow Screen man block of the G. The running lane should occur in a crease rules after your initial faking. If someone else is the between the kick out block of the G and the crack block of the Screener, help build a solid wall on the backside of the WR. Get North and South, get the sideline if possible. screen by executing normal 60-70 frontside protection responsibilities. nd QB: SELL the play indicated by the 2 number by your eyes and your body language. After a full sell, set your feet distinctly, then drift for depth to find an open “window” to the screener. Throw through an open window and avoid throwing over people if possible. Snap your wrist to make the ball come down “on” the screener.
