◦Parallel
Series Circuit

Basic Series Circuit

Series Circuit
 A series circuit is very common and easy to
make in a laboratory. (Please don’t try this at
home without supervision of an adult)
 A Series Circuit is one Where the connection

is in SERIES.
 If one part of the circuit is BROKEN/SHORTED

OUT, the entire circuit will MALFUNCTION

 In other words, a series circuit is

INEFFECIENT.
 You can also say a series circuit is NEAR

USELESS AND IMPRACTICAL in a household.

RESISTANCE
 Resistance in a series circuit is to be honest,
boring.
 The formula is as follows
 R=R1+R2+R3+R…
 R is the effective resistance and the other Rs

are the resistance of the resistors in the

circuit.
Example:
Current
 First of all, we are not talking about
blackcurrants.
 Current in a series circuit has the following

formula
 I1=I2=I3
 The easiest way to remember is that they are

all copycats.
 Why is it so? That is because current flows

through ALL of the components.

Some appliances which utilize series
circuit
Festival lights Fluorescent light

AND ANYTHING WITH A SWITCH….AS THE SWITCH IS CONNECTED

SERIES….
How to make a series circuit
 Materials:
Light bulb, battery (any type, not car battery,
LoL), wires
Connect everything as shown in the diagram
