Flute Dynamic Practice

Words and Music by Matt Spencer

Dynamics are an Important part of music. It gives feelings for important passages in a song, and the supporting parts of a song. Here is an excercise that will allow you to practice controlling dynamics:

œœœ œ œ 6 œœœœœ œœœœœœ œœœœœœ œœœ œœ œ œœ œ J 1) &8 J œœ œœ p f p Simile œœœ œœœœ 8 œ œ œ œ œ œ œœ œ J œœ œœ œœœ œœ œœ œœœ œœœ œœ œ œ & J œœœ f p f œ œœ œœ

You might have noticed that number 1 was much easier to play, while number 2 was a bit more difficult. it's because of air control. the higher note require more air to play which we sometimes we blow too much air into the high notes. Practice this everyday.
