Encouraged in the States
It has been a FULL month here in the States! We hardly have had any time to breathe. Preparing a family of six for an overseas move in a month can be a real challenge, as we tried to downsize 6 years of living in the States into 10 suitcases! We want to thank you for receiving us so warmly. We much enjoyed time visiting with friends and family. May the Lord bless you richly. downs through which God always showed his faithfulness, and even in the process He opened door after door for us. In Santos, we kept being invited to minister at three churches, and we also stayed actively involved in reaching out to various people as we waited for our documentation to go through. After much red tape and money, Elizabeth became a permanent resident in Brazil, and then we moved on to Camboriu city (in southern Brazil). After just a short time there, we had the confirmation in our hearts that we had arrived to our new “home” -although we didnʼt really know anybody. Still, God gave us His heart for the city and for all those walking toward an eternity without Jesus. As we were being “drawn” to more and more prayer, we saw many things happening, such as two prostitutes leaving their “job”, a transvestite club/ prostitution house being closed down, and we were given the grace and boldness to minister to many children, teachers and principals of the local public schools, a nursing home, at a rehab center, to druggies, alcoholics, drug dealers, prostitutes, transvestites, hit men and so on. And

WHAT WE DID
As many of you know, we felt God leading us to “step out of the boat”, and as we prayed He showed us very specifically about Brazil. After a long journey of prayer, waiting and struggles, decided to go for it by faith and pursue His vision. We had many ups and
during our “free time” we were painting, cleaning and doing maintenance in the church building. Day after day He was training our hands for battle (Psalm 18:34).

Getting passed what is on front of our eyes
“ M a n l o o k s a t t h e o u t w a rd appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart...” 1 Samuel 16:7 We live in a world where judge things and people according to what is in front of our eyes. As we have been ministering to the “hard to love” people that are most rejected by society, God has been giving us His love and grace toward them. And he taught us an important lesson: if we can get passed what is in front of our eyes, we will realize that right in front of us there is a PERSON - who is in bondage to sin and in need of freedom someone that has had a rough past and needs Jesus to forgive their yesterday, give them a new heart today and a sure destiny for tomorrow. “Lord, give me your heart for the lost so I can “get out of your way”, so that once dead to myself, You can fulfill your purpose for our lives and those that need to be reached!” “When God changed my heart toward them, that LOVE opened their hearts toward me...” I ( E l i z a b e t h ) h av e a l w a y s b e e n particularly repulsed by a certain form of sin: homosexuality, and even more so in the form of transvestitism. It just grossed me out! But as we began to pray, God began to change my heart and fill me with His love! I began to have such compassion for the transvestites I would see, and felt *compelled* to reach them with the Gospel and God’s immense love, yes, even for them! I KNEW that this love I felt came from God and was not of my own personal sentiment. And God has begun to open doors for us to reach them! “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for EVERYONE who believes....” Romans 1:16
The State of Santa Catarina is naturally beautiful, running alongside the Atlantic Ocean, and is the most visited area by tourists in southern Brazil. Camboriu city
is located in the southern part of Brazil in the State of Santa Catarina. Balneário Camboriu is a very new city that was only incorporated in 1964 and since then has been growing very fast due to its privileged geography and beautiful scenery. Balneario Camboriu is situated right along the Atlantic Ocean and draws thousands of tourists every year from all parts of Brazil and other countries, especially South American and European countries, many of which come not only to visit one of the most famous beaches in Brazil and its busy night life, but also to invest in real estate property, as the value of property in this fairly new land keeps growing at a rapid rate. Camboriu and Balneário Camboriu are sister cities that were in the past one. Together, they have close to 100 sq “We went to another local public school and were talking to the Principal and Administrator about the problems among the children with prostitution, homosexuality and drugs, besides their lack of respect toward the teachers. I asked, “Don’t the teachers get stressed out with the situation? How do they deal with it?” The Administrator said, “For the first two months of working here, I would literally go home crying every day asking myself, ‘What I am doing here?’ miles, population of 160,000 (2007), and in the summer population swells up to 700,000! It is situated only 20 miles away from Beto Carrero World, the largest amusement park in Latin America and the fifth in the world. With all that, this city not only attracts many tourists but also a world of perdition! Pedophilia and crack abuse have been in the news several times a week, as it has become a serious problem in the city. Prostitution is legal and due to the “demand” there are a great number of people in this type of “work”. In contrast to the huge number of tourists and high rises that run alongside the ocean, there are also a large number of children living in poverty, in the slums, doing drugs and prostituing themselves while their parents are at the bar drinking or smoking crack. I (Fabio) then asked, “What if we did an event just to honor the workers of the school, bringing a word of encouragement and praying for them?” To my surprise, she answered: “Oh, if you guys could do that it would be wonderful!” They acknowledge the city isn’t doing much, nor can they really offer an answer, so their hearts are being opened to The Only Answer. This is the time for the harvest!
We can only go as far as we are willing to surrender
As someone once said, “We live in this vicious cycle: We don’t see much happen, so we don’t believe. And since we dont believe, we don’t see much happen!” It is a tough calling to be a Christian, that is - if you try to live it out in your own strength, but as we learn the power of surrender, we will all start walking in a new journey: the journey of those that are totally “ruined for the ordinary”! As you give yourself out to God with all that you are and have and understand, loving God with all of your strength, heart, mind and soul, be ready for what your eyes will see! We can only walk on the water after we step out of the boat.
What is your boat at this season?
THE KEY TO EFFECTIVENESS
We understand this is not OUR mission nor OUR vision, but rather, we as a body are all part of the big picture to bring His Kingdom to earth where Jesus is the King. 2 Co 9:10 says, “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply
and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness”
Here Paul does talk about finances, but we also see an important principle: 1. All resources and gifting are supplied by God (not of our own strength and abilities). 2. It is supplied to the SOWER, that is, it has a purpose that needs to be fulfilled- it must be sowed, not held on to!! 3. The more we SOW the more we are SUPPLIED with more for effectiveness in the Kingdom and for further sowing (not for us to hang onto!). 4. There is a sure return as the seeds we sow in the Kingdom never return void In the Kingdom of God as we recognize our calling and divine purpose for life or our season, and position ourselves in that place, we can cause a great impact in this world. Some people have felt the call to pray for this ministry and indeed God keeps accurately showing them things that are happening or about to happen. Literally those prayers have caused us to be more effective as we minister in difficult situations. Among these, God has revealed times of sickness, witchcraft activity that was going on and so on and through the power of prayer we have been strengthened by you, mighty prayer warriors. As the principle teaches, the more you “sow” the more you are supplied with what you need. Some have come alongside with financial resources as they felt led by the Spirit. “Give and it shall be given to you, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together...” Although times have been difficult, you have stepped out in faith for provision. We would like to first thank you and encourage you, as we also have always lived by faith in this area. Whether we had much or little, we understood that our earthly economy does not dictate our giving, but rather His economy does. When the Shunamite woman decided to come alongside Elisha’s ministry and bless him, she was also blessed - not with money, as she did not need it - but with the supplying of the need she had. We learn from the Word that we are not “helping” the work with our money, but instead, sowing seeds in God’s own “garden” and it will never return void, but will produce a harvest to the one who sows, in whatever manner is needed. So even in a tough economy, never abandon the privilege of tithing and giving your offering TO GOD. We always had in our hearts, “Woe of me to rob God!” Then be still and see what He will do - He will honor your obedience and faith. Trust me! Child like faith
“When we arrived at the church in Camboriú, we asked, ʻWhat is that castle looking building?ʼ To our surprise they answered, ʻThat is a transvestite club/ prostitution house.ʼ As we prayed on the veranda of where we are living, we would see that building everyday until a thought came to our mind: Jesus spoke to the fig tree and that fig tree withered... So we started to pray fervently that that place of abominations would wither - everyday. One time, in the middle of the day, we were walking by with the kids and decided to ALL put our hands on the front door and pray. After a few weeks, they were concreting shut the side door entrance, the banners/ signs were down and there was a big hole in one of the towers! We wondered what had happened and we can only think of one thing: PRAYER WORKS!! It was totally shut down!
[pray] [pray] [pray]
We understand the extreme importance of prayer. Since the day we left the US we have been constantly attacked by the enemy as you can read in past posts on our blog. During this time in Brazil, we also have had witchcraft work done against us, something very "common" in Brazil. Here in Camboriú, right next to the church, which we are also living in, there is a high hill with a Masonic (Satanic) temple in the form of a castle where they do all sorts of witchcraft rituals. At times, right at the moment our meeting starts or at the end of it, we can see people up there on the castle with black capes and large pitchforks doing all kinds of hand motions toward us. Five churches had started in this place in the past and shut down after a while. We can see that we and this whole ministry are facing the devil -- face to face. So please keep us in your prayers!
[give] [give] [give]
The Tsukayama's are supported through the generosity of individuals that feel called to support this ministry. So far, our funds have come from our own small savings, and a few individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of people. Our church is now in faith for being able to SEND us, but they will only be able to do so through individuals who are willing to sow. Not everybody has the time, call or ability to go to a foreign country and get into schools, slums, street corners at nights, minister to the "rejected of society" and so on, and yet they share the burden of this ministry and desire to see the Kingdom of Light expand on this earth! If you are one of them, consider sowing here so we can continue to do the "dirty" work and thus, make a huge impact on the other side of the world. PRAY FOR THIS MINISTRY. PRAY FOR OUR MARRIAGE. PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN.
[come] [come] [come]
If you would like to come and visit, please let us know and we can arrange that. If you would like to come and serve for a week or a year, please let us know as well. There are many ways you can be effective here, as you make yourself available to work for the Kingdom. Step out to change someone's life forever, and yours will never be the same again!
