Continuation of the Twilight Saga- Old Sun: 17
17. Revealed .:WHERE WE LEFT OFF:. And then I automatically knew, which fortunate mortal I was in love with... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "MMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT?!?" I yelled in disapproval. "WHAT?!" Matt yelled. "IT'S NOT MY FAULT JOSE WANTS TO ORDER SOME 'pescaito frito',AND NOT JUST AN 'empanada'! Wait, what the hell is a pescaito frito anyway?." His face displayed a confused expression. Matt sat at least 5 feet away from me (upon request). I predicted that he was still a bit shocked from what I had told Shane and him. "I happen to love pescaito frito. Even though I rarely got it." I rolled my eyes, remembering the slightly harsh treatment the Ross' had put me through (the haughty English family I worked for back in Spain). "Hmm? How can you eat non-bloody things? I thought you were a v —" He cut off abruptly once he had seen my glare. He leaned forward and whispered, "Vampire." "Idiot, I wasn't always a vampire." I cleared his false accusation. "Then what were you?" His head cocked to the right like a puzzled puppy's. I didn't like explaining things twice, so I invited Shane and Matt to Starbucks in about 30 minutes. Matt asked me if Lindsay (remember her?) could come. I needed advice, and Lindsay was the last thing on my mind. I nodded a quick 'yes,' and rushed home. I threw open the glass French doors. "Alice?" I roamed about the house, stopping in the living room. A grief-strucken Rosalie, and a very happy, victorious Emmett looked up at me from their game of Modern Warfare 2. "Thank you, Jasmine." Rosalie got up and hugged me. "Now I don't have to play this pointless game anymore." Emmett made a face, but continued to kill terrorists.
"Sorry Rose, I'm here for Alice." I backed away from Rosalie, and she sat back down on the sofa, looking as bored as ever. I ignored my guilty conscience and darted up the stairs. I found Esme reading a book, Jasper on the computer, Carlisle at the hospital (as usual), Edward and Bella in my room, but— wait. Edward and Bella, in my room? You've got to be kidding me. "What are you guys doing here?" I pushed open my hardly-used bedroom's door, revealing Edward and Bella sitting on my chaise, listening to my iPod. Bella glanced at me, panic filling her eyes. "S-sorry, Jazz." She mumbled. "What? I can't hear you." Jasper called out from the room next door. I forgot we called him 'Jazz' sometimes... But I always thought it was a more feminine nickname...? "Never mind, Jasper." Edward replied. "It's fine, Bella. I really don't mind." I turned to Bella, remembering how I had talked to Alice about Bella before, and Alice had advised me that being nicer and friendlier was the only way. "But where's Alice?" "Check the closet." Edward pointed to the enormous walk-in closet that was shared by me and Alice. I gingerly stepped inside, and glanced around. Sure enough, Alice stood there, trying on a dress. "What do you think, Jazz? Does it make me look fat?" Alice giggled. "Not at all." I winked. "But hey, Alice, I have to talk to you." "Oh no, not again." She rolled her eyes comically. I shoved her over playfully. "I'm actually serious this time." We both sat down on the Egyptianinspired floor pillows. "Shane and Matthew know about...me, but they don't know the true story behind me. And what about you guys? As far as they know, all I have in common with you is a last name. And that's not even true for Jasper and Rosalie. You know, Hale? And we're the Cull—" "Slow down, Jazz." Alice smiled supportively. I stared at my feet, embarrassed. And I thought only humans could freak out! "Okay, all you have to do is..." Alice calmly explained a plan. She even helped me get rid of Lindsay (I had totally forgotten that she had rudely invited herself). I hugged Alice and ran to my room. Grabbing my cell phone, I texted Finn (some guy that was in love with Lindsay) to meet Lindsay at the mall. I proceeded to text Lindsay to meet Finn at the mall as well (Lindsay kind of likes Finn). Done, done, and done! I checked the clock. I still had about 7 minutes. Great timing! Hopping into my car, I grabbed my car keys, wallet, and cell phone, and left
the house as quickly as I could. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -*SHANE'S POV (Point Of View)*- - - - - - - - - - - ----------Where was she? Matt and I were here in Starbucks, like ten minutes early, waiting for Jasmine. Matt was bummed out because Lindsay still wasn't here. My phone beeped suddenly, followed by Matt's phone beeping as well. I checked my inbox, immediately seeing the text that Lindsay had sent. FROM: LINDSAY TO: SHANE, MATT, JASMINE SRRY. CANT COME 2 STRBX. @ THE MALL. P.S. THX JAZZ :) "I wonder what she meant by 'thanks Jazz'?" Matt was puzzled. I shrugged and drank some of my hot chocolate. As if on cue, Jasmine walked into the coffee shop. She spotted us and came to sit down. I still wasn't over the fact that she was a....a vampire. But it was all making sense to me. Gradually. I mean, she had skin that was practically white (no racial!), and she always seemed secretive. "Having fun?" Jasmine sat down across from Matt and me. "Uh. Yeah?" Matt answered. He nervously took a swig of his frappachino. Jasmine smiled. She started to tell about her family, etc., etc., while Matt and I patiently listened for the next hour or so. Occasionally, we had questions (relevant and irrelevant), and Jazz calmly answered them. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -*LINDSAY'S POV (Point Of View)*- - - - - - - - - ------------FROM: AVERY TO: LINDSAY HEY. SRRY. IM NOT DRNKING TONITE. 2 MCH DRMA. HVE FUN, THO. I let my cell phone slide from my hand and drop onto my bed. Why would she do this? I mean, weren't we best friends for the last 3 years? So why go off and dis-invite me? Just because I didn't have a boyfriend? I knew Jasmine, Matt, and Shane all thought I was odd and ditzy, but what they didn't know was that I lived with my 26-year-old aunt, who was usually out of the house. They also didn't know that my parents had passed away when I was just 7 years old, and I had to live with my uptight grandparents until I was 14. No one knew the entire truth about me. But then again, I felt I couldn't trust anyone. Josh was the only person I knew and could fully trust, but I had texted him three times and there had been no reply. What if he was ignoring me? I quickly grabbed my Motorola and swiped my fingers across the keyboard. FROM: LINDSAY TO: JOSH JOSH, WHERE R U? IVE BEEN WAITING 4EVR. PLZ TEXT ME. I sat on my bed, waiting for a reply. I instantly fell asleep. About half an hour later, my phone beeped again. There was a text from Josh! Happily, I checked the text. FROM: JOSH TO: LINDSAY JOSH IS NO MORE. I stared at the screen, overwhelmed. What did that mean? Oh. My. God. Was Josh....dead? My eyes blurred with tears as I fell back into my flowery sheets. * * *
