Kollmorgen. Blowing away the competition. Insight.

Kollmorgen, a global leader in motion control, saw an
opportunity to leverage its motion application expertise and bestin-breed motion components, which would allow them to strongly enter the alternative energy/wind/hybrid markets. They would need to create a value story based on their ability to deliver greater efficiency, performance, and reliability. Also, Kollmorgen’s story had to include a discussion of its global footprint in an effort to attract attention in the many countries where wind power was really off and running.

They are constantly charged with getting their products to market sooner and ensuring flawless performance once they are deployed. In addition, cost is always a factor. We knew that in telling the hybrid and wind power stories, we would need to communicate the idea that Kollmorgen’s expertise and field-proven applications minimize the risk factor for engineers. Integrated communications. To fully
illuminate how Kollmorgen addresses the needs in the alternative energy market necessitated a keen understanding on our part of both hybrid and wind turbine technology—pitch management systems for wind turbines, and hybrid motors and inverters for commercial and defense applications. After gaining a firm grasp on what differentiated Kollmorgen’s products and engineering process, we were able to create two in-depth pieces of collateral that could be used effectively by Kollmorgen’s sales force. We became well-acquainted with the benefits of Kollmorgen’s pitch management systems that would allow for greater wind power generation of larger rotor diameters, while mitigating the added loads those larger rotors add to the main shafts and tower and yaw bearings. As for hybrids, we stressed the benefits of Kollmorgen’s hybrid motors and inverters in delivering high output, in addition to standing up to extreme conditions and lasting for a long, long time. We also helped Kollmorgen carve out a leadership position by creating the theme, logo and posters for their sponsorship of an alternative energy conference in their home state of Virginia. With the theme, “Clean Energy. It’s Everybody’s Business,” our goal was to appeal to government officials and educational facilities to invest in and work with Kollmorgen to bring solutions to market, and position Virginia as a leadership state.
