For some reason, my chemistry teacher made us do this project, that required quite a bit of information, but we could only use one sheet of printer paper. It's sad that that is about the only thing from this project that I remember.

Robert Millikan o Discovered the charge of an electron (1910) o Proved that this charge was the same for all electrons (1910) o Was a began teaching as a professor at the University of Chicago (1910) Neils Bohr o Niels Bohr won a Nobel Prize (1922) o Niels Bohr worked on the Manhattan Project in America under President FDR (1942) o Niels Bohr discovered 235U (Uranium isotope), allowed for slow-neutron fission (1939) o Niels Bohr created the Planetary model (1913) Democritus (460-370BC) o The United States was unknown/didn’t exist at this point in time o First to extensively hypothesize existence of atoms (5th century BC)  All matter was made up of invisible particles (atoms)  Atoms are unchangeable  Atoms are homogenous (the same throughout) James Chadwick o James Chadwick proved that neutrons exist (1932) o James Chadwick won the Nobel Prize for physics (1935) o James Chadwick won the Hughes Medal of the Royal society (1932) William Crookes- 1879 o Discovered that cathode rays  Travel in straight lines from the cathode  Give an object a negative charge when they touch  Have mass Ernest Rutherford- (1908-1909) o Conducted an experiment in which he shot particles at gold foil (1909) o Discovered that atoms had a nucleus (1908) o Created the “nuclear model” of an atom (1908) Erwin Schrödinger o Erwin Schrödinger won a Nobel Prize (1933) o Erwin Schrödinger calculated the way electrons orbit about the nucleus (1926) o Erwin Schrödinger left continental Europe and moved to England (1933) o Erwin Schrödinger built off of Bohr’s information to create the electron cloud model (1920s) John Dalton- 1803 o All atoms from the same element are identical o Chemical reaction happen when atoms get rearranged o Thought that atoms from different elements could be told apart by their weight o Created the Solid Sphere model o o J.J. Thomson discovered electrons (1897) o J.J. Thomson was knighted (1908) o J.J. Thomson won the Nobel Prize for physics (1906) o J.J. Thomson created the Plum Pudding model (1897)
