Subject: Fence Gauge in EPT
Start: Thursday, November 15, 2007 10:00:00 AM
End: Thursday, November 15, 2007 11:00:00 AM
Location: tele-conference

Please refer to attached message from (b) (6) (Albuquerque District USACE) relative to changes involving double wire mesh
gauge. This is a huge concern for us in El Paso. It makes no sense to place a “light” gauge double wire mesh that will easily be
defeated. OBP sent out a message last week in reference to 4, 6, and 8 gauge double wire mesh requesting our opinion and feedback.
El Paso Sector has requested the 4 gauge as this is the heaviest gauge available. We know through the fence lab, that the 8 gauge
was easily defeated and failed to meet requirements so I don’t quite understand why the 8 gauge is even an option. What is even more
disconcerting, is that now, a 9 gauge double wire mesh is being proposed for the Tetra Tech product for Phase I Projects within EPT
(I-1A, J-1 and J-3 projects).
We must conduct an immediate teleconference to ensure all key stake holders (all listed addressees) are on the same sheet of music.
We are preparing to erect 5.94 miles of fencing (Phase 1) and we still don’t know exactly what to expect regarding the fence. To be
clear, we are pleased with Tetra Tech’s fence design (but we need to nail down the gauge of the double wire mesh, color or finish
application and ensure fence requirements and contractual issues are satisfied.
