Objective 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Introduction to OBIEE. A History View : OBIEE OBIEE Architecture. OBIEE Various Components. Role of OBIEE in Enterprise Data Warehousing Technology

What is OBIEE ?
‡ It is a query tool ‡ Unlike simple reporting tool, it allows users to carryout Analysis ‡ It has far more rich features than Discoverer. ‡ It is completely web based design ‡ It has an impressive common sense, intuitive user interface, very easy to learn. ‡ It is a myth to assume OBIEE can improve performance, improving performance depends on optimal Data Source Schema design and accurate Metadata setup in the repository

Traditional Reporting Tool

History View : OBIEE.
OBIEE stands for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise edition (Formerly known as siebel analytics). When Oracle Corp. has acquired Siebel System and decided to make siebel analytics their flagship analytic engine and renamed it OBIEE (OBIEE server + ETL engine+ Reporting). The OBIEE product is coming with preconfigured ETL mappings and DW schema available for Siebel CRM, Oracle E Business Suite (Financials, HR etc.), JD Edwards, and SAP. OBIEE is a complete Data Warehouse technology server+application+ETL+report) where other reporting tools like Business Object (BO) is reporting components only. Other reporting tools BO, Cognos, IR, can also access and deliver reports that can be build based on OBIEE DW tables..
