The Narconon approach to drug addiction is unique in comparison to the typical 12 step techniques that most drug rehabilitation

programs are based on. And just as with anything that is different, this program is looked at skeptically through the eyes of many. It seems that society has been programmed to believe that addictions cannot be treated without drugs and that a cure cannot last. Therefore, even the proven Narconon Program has often been on the receiving end of smear efforts by those that do not understand the program as well as by others that have something to gain by the program not gaining the recognition it deserves. Narconon uses a drug-free approach to drug rehabilitation. This ensures that clients do not replace one addiction for another. Studies have shown that this method is substantially more effective than other types of drug rehab. The Narconon program includes a sauna detoxification. This technique is used to help eliminate the traces of drug elements that are stored in the fat cells of the body. The stored traces of drug elements, unless removed, can result in drug cravings weeks, months, or even years down the road. By removing the drug residuals via supervised exercise and intensive sweating in a dry sauna, the chances of those cravings returning are greatly reduced. This substantially increases the likelihood for a successful recovery. Clients are closely monitored, provided plenty of fluids and nutritional supplements to further aid in this process. Clearing the body of all traces of drugs helps to free the individual of the addiction and many of the problems related to it. The Narconon program is offered in a series of steps that are completed in a precise sequence. The detox phase greatly decreases the chance of relapse and it results in clearer thinking. Once completed the individual is ready to move on to the next step. The learning phase helps the individuals further withdraw from drug use and or abuse, while regaining control in their lives. Narconon also addresses the root causes of the drug use and works at supplying individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to lead a contented and happy, drug-free life. A very important aspect of the Narconon Program is that it takes as long as it takes to complete. Some drug rehab programs have a fixed time limit such

as 28 or 45 days. The average stay at Narconon is 3 – 6 months. The cost is fixed, regardless of how long it takes the addict to complete the program. About The Author: Leland Michaels writes extensively about drug rehabilitation and the programs that are being used in various facilities. Michaels’ most recent report explores the advantages offered by the Narconon Program. The program has a proven track record that speaks for itself. Narconon has an above average success rate for clients remaining drug free two years after leaving the program. Narconon has received endorsements and recognition from various government officials, celebrities, scholars, research groups, and others.
