DEFINING BEHAVIOURAL COMMUNICATION
Behavioral Communication is defined as a variable of individual differences concerning the use of behaviors that indirectly express one's feelings. needs. it refers to people's tendency to express feelings. and thoughts by means of indirect messages and behavioral impacts. needs. Specifically. as a substitute for more direct and open forms of communication.
. Behavioural Communication thus provides a conceptual framework to account for many instances of day-to-day behavior from communication standpoint.

DEFINING BEHAVIOURAL COMMUNICATION
Basically. any behavior (or its absence when one is expected) may be judged as communicative if it has the intent to convey a message. The construct of behavioral communication is conceived as a variable of individual differences. This means that some people more than others tend to engage in behavioral communication in spite of the plausible alternatives of using verbal communication.
we simply use them in certain ways to convey an idea or give it a meaning. Words are just symbols that do not have inherent meaning. there is a real possibility that when two of us get together there are chances that we are less effective at communicating with each other than we would like.SCOPE
Developing interpersonal communication skills is vitally important in today s workplace. our social upbringing and culture. and no two people use the same word in the same sense at all instances. we don't actually swap ideas. When we communicate. Almost all kinds of work require communicating effectively with superiors as well as colleagues in order to be successful at the job. The symbols attached to these words are a function of who we are. which will pretty much vary quite widely in today's work environment. we swap symbols that stand for ideas. Our personal communication skills would be largely dependant on our cultural background and unique histories. As a result.

There are a variety of ways of behaving when we are communicating with others. The appropriate choice of behaviour is vitally important if we are to communicate effectively.
lack of selfesteem. It ignores the isolation of rights and responsibilities through fear of the consequences or because you don t wish to be bothered with the consequences. Aggression places the rights of the aggressor above the rights of the other party and avoids responsibility. perhaps both physically and verbally. It is a showing. Avoidance behaviour is sometimes used to evade any confrontation. either through refusal to recognize the problem or by deliberately side stepping confrontational situations. Aggression can sometimes be an expression of fear.
. Quite elaborate plans can be devised to avoid a situation. Avoidance can be displayed in many ways . People can become very adept at avoiding uncomfortable situations. Aggressive behaviour offends or isolates someone else s rights.refusing to get a diagnostic test. not answering the phone to certain people or avoiding socialising in a certain place.

Submissive behaviour often leads to a build up of resentment which can show itself in loss of self-esteem or an eventual aggressive outburst. ignored or lets you be taken advantage of. We often experience an immediate pleasant effect from pleasing others and not rocking the boat as we see it. schools and hierarchical organisations.
. Assertive behaviour means stating your own feelings whilst acknowledging the other person s point of view. We often have this type of behaviour instilled in us from parents. This type of behaviour is often shown in not wanting to say no to unreasonable requests. There are many issues revolving around sexual stereotyping when we think of assertion. guilt or fear by letting your views or thoughts be misconstrued. or wanting to avoid a scene . standing up for your rights and beliefs. Submissive or accommodating behaviour lets you reduce anxiety. whilst looking for ways to resolve possible problems. wanting to appear polite and helpful in an excessive way. domineering or bossy! Assertive behaviour is often thought of as a Win Win situation where both parties in the communication process benefit from increased effectiveness. Men behaving assertively are thought to be in control and masterful . Assertive Behaviour Many may associate the word with aggression or manipulation . a belief that you are not as good as others.
. The understanding of Intra-personal communication and improving it can tremendously improve the quality of our lives.000 times a day. According to some experts. and which needs great attention. self-talk.INTRAPERSONAL COMMUNICATION
For the majority of people. Intra-personal communication is also known by many other names like self-dialogue. communication only means having interaction with others. which indeed is a lot of communication. inner speech and self-verbalisation. we communicate with ourselves 50. inner monologue. all forms of communication originated from with in us in the form of intra-personal communication and only then it leads to communication which involves other. inner dialogue. This a great fallacy because communication also takes place between ourselves.

Interpersonal communication is defined by communication scholars in numerous ways. Communication channels. usually describing participants who are dependent upon one another and have a shared history. the conceptualization of mediums that carry messages from sender to receiver. take two distinct forms: direct and indirect.
You can also emulate someone who you think is a good communicator.most people can figure out by the tone whether a person is arrogant or just plain shy.If you have a high pitch. Improve tone and pitch . One must work towards lowering it. you can work towards improving it. but also includes your body language. Keep the pace of your speech normal. but not to the extent where you sound boring. sounds like you are boring and dull. Once you have identified your communication style. You have to work towards modulating your voice.IMPROVING COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Identify your style . Talking too slowly. Talking too fast indicates nervousness and should therefore be avoided. its pitch and tone according to your surroundings. Your tone should be neutral. your vocabulary. on the other hand. you may come across as nervous.
. as it discloses your confidence level . your tone and pitch.Each person has a particular style of communicating with others. The tone of your voice is also important. Communication style is not only about how you talk to others.
IMPROVING COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Animate & Enunciate .and that is possible if you speak clearly and enunciate the words. as this will make the listener tune out from what you are saying. avoid using it all together.Make sure your vocabulary is good . you are often judged on the kind of words you use and the kind of language you speak.
. lower and increase pitch whenever necessary. Use words that are easily understood and that are easy to pronounce. use hand gestures to get the attention of the listener. Vocabulary . do not be dull or talk in monotones. In addition. If you cannot pronounce a word or are unsure of its pronunciation. Do not use words to that you do not know the meaning of.right or wrong.Communication becomes easier when the people you are communicating with can understand you . Adjust your voice modulation. Do not try to use big words.
We can convey clear messages without saying a word but by using body language or alter the meaning of a message by changing emphasis or our tone of voice.
Many aspects of communication come down to not what is said but how it is said. speech content. It is important to get a coherent pattern of voice. facial expression etc if we are to convey our intended behaviour clearly.
