the wheel from Mick. His eyes had been drooping and his head nodding when I woke up just in time to save him from going off the side of the road. “You waited too long, Mick!” I practically screamed. It woke him up enough to pull over so I could trade seats with him. Our other two buddies had been fast asleep in the back seat but sat straight up, alert but quiet because of my outburst. “Where are we now?” Marc asked from the back after I took over the driver’s seat. “What happened?” Ryan asked. Mick, now sitting in the front passengers seat said, “I waited too long to ask for someone else to drive. Troy caught me nodding off.” At the same time I was answering Marc with “only 184 miles to go,” as I adjusted the rear view mirror so the headlights behind me didn’t shine in my eyes. “It was great going into LA, wasn’t it?” I said to no one in particular. “I was so surprised at the turn out! There were over five thousand people at that event! And, did you see those dancers? My gosh! They must’ve practiced hours to pull off that routine. The timing was perfect.” We chatted animatedly for some time about the event we saw in LA. First one got quiet, then another and then the third until the only one left awake was me driving in silence (except for the occasional snore), climbing the side of the mountain with the trucks and other late night travelers. Interstate 10 is only two lanes wide through the California and Arizona desert lands; therefore I followed the road etiquette closely. I guess it’s more like an adult version of hop scotch. Pass the slow-moving trucks and vehicles in the left lane; once past, get in the right lane. When you catch up with the next group of slow-moving vehicles, do it again. Left, right and onwards I drove, gobbling up the miles when to my right I saw it. Its presence meant that there was a leak from the Netherworld and this was not going to be an ordinary night. I just made it to the top of the hill at Quartzite and was traveling east into the Valley of the Sun. This area was not very populated and it seemed that most travelers got off the last few exits leaving a mostly pitch black night with hardly any other vehicles to share the road with us.
The highway was so empty and it was so black that the reflectors on the road were my only company for several miles. I cannot say for sure when I saw the car that was nearly identical to mine. When it passed by on the left, it seemed as if the driver was panicked as he was not just passing me by, he was speeding by me at a great velocity. He really caught my eye because I felt as if I were standing still compared to how fast he was going. When I looked at his car as it passed the illumination of my headlights, my jaw dropped. Hanging on his right passenger door was a glistening goblin, reddish brown in color with glowing green eyes. He was huge! He was hanging onto the side mirror with one hand, looking into the passenger window, the other hand hanging onto the handle of the door with his body clinging on with the help of the wind velocity, feet balanced on the back bumper and arrow-tipped tail waving up and down behind the car at least ten feet behind. To make the scene more eerie, whenever his tail hit the pavement, sparks shot up. As the car passed into the lights, the goblin turned to look at me with his bulging, green florescent eyes. He looked me straight in the eyes as if to say that I was next. Goblins are really gruesome looking and this one sent shivers of terror down my spine. He had a thin layer of outer skin that appeared slightly sticky and transparent. He was extremely gaunt with spiny ridges on his legs and arms. He was bald with pointy ears that stuck out at the sides with horns protruding from his forehead. His hands and feet were more claw-like with long fingernails that left huge scratches on the car. I don’t think the goblin had any blood. I could see every detail of his bones and organs straight through his this scaly skin but there didn’t seem to be any blood pounding through that emaciated body of his. I was both fascinated and terrified at the same time watching that car race by mine, seeing every detail of the ghastly figure as if time stopped for a moment. I went on red alert; any remnants of tiredness had been eaten up with the adrenaline that coursed through my veins. I tried waking up my friends, but my voice came out in a dry squeaky whisper that I couldn’t seem to get to go any louder. So, there I was in Devils Run, knowing that there was a leak from the Netherworld. I wasn’t willing to stop. I knew I had to continue forward but had no idea what was to come next. Wondering if I could navigate through the night of horrors to get us home safely, I cautiously continued driving. I watched vigilantly for the next several miles, alert for creatures but only saw half formed black wisps that floated by which were creepy but not hard to plot a course through.
Writhing. There was no life left to the car. The car barely made it onto the shoulder. He just lay there in the loving arms of the creature. hood and trunk. the goblin again shone happiness on his blood-soaked face. Pulling back his head. bit the man on the chest and sucked out the life force from the body. I’ve seen vehicles on the side of highways before that looked like that and could not imagine how on earth such a thing could have happened. His fingers eagerly stroked the man’s hair while he possessively held him in his arms. I had just about convinced myself that it wasn’t a goblin at all. we’ll be home safely in no time whatso-ever. I slowed the car down while I was driving toward this scene of horror. a blood stained smile of delight lit his face. The tires were all flat. In his arms he lovingly held the person who had been driving the car. Again he bent to drain more of the life from the man who continued to be perfectly motionless. I know I screamed but nothing came out. He bent closer. in all his glory. The person’s head was lolling back and he had his eyes wide open looking straight at me as I approached.I kept driving without any mishaps for miles and was ready to give up the vigilance as I sincerely believed that only one creature escaped from the Netherworld to here. It looked like he was in the utter rapture of a most sensual and incredible pleasure moment while he inflicted the most brutal horror on the driver. I had decided that the light was playing tricks and it was a very interesting paint job on the car that passed me by those many miles ago. It was parked at an angle as if it were going to just continue driving into the desert. my car barely moving. Creepy sounds carried . Sweat started rolling down my flushed face and I knew terror like I’ve never known it before. What I saw off to the right on the shoulder of the highway started a trembling in my body and palpitations of my heart. The goblin seemed to be in complete ecstasy. Now I knew. as if to savor every moment so that the final instant was the most exquisite. I think the goblin had somehow paralyzed the man as he wasn’t moving. Picking his head up. What remained of the nearly identical car that sped by me about an hour ago with the goblin now was on the side of the freeway. the goblin bent over the man with his eyes rolled back. The goblin caressed the man’s body as he drank again of the blood and life force. I took in the entire scene of the living nightmare. Everything is fine I told myself. I was attracted to the revolting vision while also being repulsed and horrified by it. it was an empty hulk instead of a vehicle. There were long gouges on the roof. His eyes were opening and closing rhythmically while he sighed. was the goblin. sides. Sitting on the top of the car.
I stomped my foot on the gas pedal. not realizing that I had been holding onto a lungful of air. the man’s body was shriveling up. alone again with the stripes on the road and the breathing of my three friends to keep me company. More black wisps passed by like ground level clouds. I then checked my rearview mirrors and was greeted with a set of luminescent green eyes. The goblin loved every instant of the gruesome feast while the man was in complete agony as he lost his life. still half shut in the rapture of the horror he was inflicting. Heart racing. “What does one do to stop a goblin?” While I was pondering this dilemma. He looked right at me with his fiery eyes. I kept vigilance as I slowed the speed down and became again a law abiding citizen. My intestines nearly let loose. I ate up miles rapidly until I no longer saw the glow of his eyes. I drove onwards through the night with the occasional black wisp and no worries when I heard a loud thud on the roof of the car. adrenaline-powered. I looked one last time in the rearview mirror to see if the goblin decided to follow but saw instead that he was continuing his feast. His life was being sucked out with the most intense horror and pain imaginable. his dreams and his body. It seemed far too late.through the night air to my slightly opened window. Looking right to left. My stomach lurched. it went all the way to the floorboard and the car shot forth like a rocket. I didn’t care a bit about speed limits. moving up and down. not a single one of my buddies stirred in their sleep. I drove forth in the black night. Still watching the gruesome scene while driving past. Possibly to another goblin or night creature it might have sounded pleasant but to me. I could only imagine what that meant. it was incentive to press my foot hard onto the gas pedal. side and back windows but didn’t see anything at all. I just drove like the dickens to get out of there. I saw that the goblin was writhing in complete exquisite pleasure. Amazingly enough. I looked out the front. All was fine once more. my stomach seized up and my eyes bulged out. One was large enough to encompass my car and started to sneak its tendrils through the partially opened window that I closed rapidly. I tried to work out the best strategy that I could in order to not wind . My heart started beating a more normal rhythm and I started normally breathing again. I drove right over the goblins tail as he had it stretched out across the highway. I had no idea what I could possibly do to help that poor driver. His eyes glowed in the black night winking in and out. Finally I saw a sign “Phoenix 65 Miles” which lightened my mood a bit as it was not too much further to get home.
“You can do this. That worked for a few miles. The eyes looked at me imploringly through the mirror as if to say “Let down your guard. I felt as if a wave of relief went over me when I looked into her adoring eyes. Without thinking. but then I felt a kind of nudge that was urging me to comply. Then suddenly the eyes disappeared. but my three best buddies who for some reason had been sleeping through the entire nightmare. that was not the way out. He was so close that I could see every ghastly detail of the beast from hell which was when I realized that he was a she goblin. I was repulsed while my mind raced to work out some solution to the nightmarish situation that I found myself in. then saw a claw hand and then another clinging on to the outside of my window. I seemed to get swallowed up into her amorous aura. Extremely scared from both the noise and the closeness of the goblin. It seemed like I was looking at the most caring. compassionate creature. His solution was to speed up. I felt like she was the best thing that ever could have happened to me and wondered for a moment how I could’ve been so afraid of such a generous. just look straight ahead. I realized what was happening and looked away as fast as I could. I continued forward when abruptly I heard a screeching noise not unlike nails on a chalk board. passionate she-beast that ever existed. It was her eyes that she captured people with! “Look ahead. I felt as if I could feel the goblins hot putrid breath straight through the car window. But her eyes looked beautiful to me this time. only 45 miles to go. I’m your best friend. I not only had myself to worry about. I breathed a huge sigh of relief as I continued on the journey through Devil’s Run in my attempt to get safely home. the driver earlier in the night that I passed by had this very same problem. Calming down ever so slightly. .up like that driver that I saw the goblin feast on so many miles back. actually it was to race his vehicle in an attempt to dislodge the monster. I gulped air as I turned to look once again into her eyes. Then.” I told myself. I saw another sign. Again the goblin got my attention by running her claws up the window in a dainty fashion that none-the-less was ear-piercing. there’s nothing to worry about. Fearfully I looked to my left just in time to look eye to eye with the most horrendously ugly goblin. Obviously.” I tried my hardest to continue to look straight ahead and ignore the eyes in the mirror that somehow got closer with every passing second. Again I tried to call out to no avail as I couldn’t seem to find my voice.” I told myself as I gripped the steering wheel tighter and resolutely stared directly ahead. To the right. I looked to my left and found that the goblin had moved slightly and was peering at me through the very side of the front window. Apparently.
slowly. By this time my body was like a strung wire that was ready to burst with superb feelings.” I said to me. doubling it with the ecstatic feeling that I got from breathing her breath took me to such out of this world levels that I cannot even seem to explain. I enjoyed every bit of her attentions. charming eyes. she ducked her head in for a moment breathing hot air in my vicinity which I inhaled as it was so close it invaded my space.” But then I told myself. then my face. I was able to touch her exquisite hide. then my neck. . I had no idea how I could have ever been afraid of such a stupendously wonderful creature. Since the window was open. Then up again. Her claw gently stroked my face and I felt a shiver of excitement course through my body. Gently and teasingly she stroked me while she clung to the car. If I thought what she did earlier was incredible. I relaxed some more while somehow calmly driving and looking into the goblins eyes whilst being tantalized in ways that I never knew were possible. shoulders and around to my back. I do not know. I seemed to find myself sinking more and more into her eyes with a sigh. Each touch sent off a new spark of wonder in my body. Then she reached into the car window. looking at me with her wonderful. Somehow I realized that she needed to be able to reach further into the vehicle so rolled the window down all the way. then my chest and shoulders. it was sort of like when you pet a purring cat. then in swirling motions on my head. first my face. When I did so.How could I have ever felt anything but the greatest of worship for such a gorgeous female beast? I rolled down the window slightly so that I could reach out and touch this marvel of marvels. ever so slowly which was wickedly exquisite and created the most inconceivable sensations. First on my head which sent more shivers throughout my body every time she did so. Her skin looked just like jewels to me and when I finally got the window down far enough. I heard her make a whimpering kind of sound. it’s magnificent and you have never felt anything like this before. She continued to stroke my body in a tender caress. For some reason. I felt euphoric when I did so. She ducked her head into the car once more. She continued to caress me. “Yes. while still looking at me eye to eye. How I could’ve possibly been afraid of such a remarkable living thing. I touched her again and again as I felt I had met the most special friend in the whole world. She pulled her head back outside to stare once more at me through the window as I drove. she was able to fully use both her hands to stroke my body. breathed again in the space so close to my nose that I had no other choice but to inhale her gift of pleasure. Slowly she moved down to stroke my neck again. “relax. “she is charming you.” So. then moving ever so slowly slightly down to my chest.
sides and back. I stripped my jersey off not caring about the cool desert night air. Please goblin. Each time she bit me. All I could think was “Please goblin. “Take my life if you want it. invigorating and sensual act I had ever experienced. never noticing how close I was to the city of Phoenix.” I said. gesturing for me to pull over. after she shared her breathe with me she bit my fingers as I was driving.” I pleaded with her. Each bite was so wonderful that I did not know how I would ever be able to feel the next without completely coming apart with sensations. she spent the time to lick up every drop of blood. Frantically I looked out the windows. “Please I don’t want you to stop. She gave me a break from the exquisite sensations by biting me several more times. I didn’t see anything. Abruptly. It did not hurt at all. She seemed to appear out of nowhere. She bit the very tip of each finger. the demon of my dreams. partake of my body and my blood. to no avail. After each bite she looked at me and I implored her to continue. I got out of the car as rapidly as I could. I walked around to the front of the car where the she-monster was waiting for me. I stuck my head out the open window to find out if she was hanging on. but please don’t stop again. Then suddenly she disappeared. my comrades never blinked an eye and never woke up when I stopped the car. Cautiously.” Somehow. Then she ducked her head back out of the car to look at me once again through the window. please. gave me her breathe to breath. I did. It was the most luscious. staring into her eyes every step of the way. drink my blood. This time I gave her pleading eyes to do it again. I was so relieved to see her once again. She did so.” Again she ducked into the car. my body longed to be bitten once again. “Please. I have no idea how I was still driving to tell you the truth. my lungs longed to inhale her intoxicating breathe and my body felt as if it would just rip apart. front. Then I looked in the rearview mirrors. She was standing only a few feet ahead on the shoulder of the road. . The next time. Never did I notice that night was fleeing. I reached higher states of euphoria. bite me again. Bewildered. This time she kept her head in the vehicle for a moment longer to take a bite out of my neck. I drove on slowly even though I was on a highway. Take my life if you want it. I put the brakes on. I continued forward a few feet and then I saw her. slowed the car down and pulled over to stop right before the goblin that I had been so terrified of earlier in the night.
Slowly and leisurely she penetrated her claws into my skin and to my ribs. As I exhaled. he surpassed the glory of the gold lined clouds. The spell was broken. I inhaled with delight. She shrieked. Again the giant fiend bent over to breath on me. I saw compassion and empathy in her wise eyes. She held me close and bent her face down to mine to breathe once more leaving me no choice but to breathe in what she exhaled. then my chest and back again. The waiting was an eternity that ticked by. encircling where my heart was and then she started sinking her claws into my flesh. first one. I craved it. I looked up and saw a Phoenix rising with the morning sun. and then the other. Then she took a nip out of my stomach. She was at least ten feet tall. Then she bit my shoulders. that terror that became something that I now craved. Take more. Then she bit me. She looked me in the eyes again. her head held high and her eyes glowing. He had volunteered his life and enjoyed every last second that the goblin took to acquire it. The magnificent Phoenix was of several colors. just like I wasn’t. standing proud with her chest out. I got light-headed and exhilarated. transparent but of substance. I inhaled as deep as I could and held that goblin air in my lungs until they almost burst. All I had my attention on was the glorious goblin. . She slowly licked the blood that was pouring from my wounds. Shortly I was back inside my body feeling the caresses starting once more as she explored my face with her claws. It felt overpowering and irresistible to me. He rose with the glorious golden sun. She placed her claws on my chest. out-stretched wings encompassing the sky over the Valley of the Sun. I had no idea what was occurring as the goblin shrieked again and again. Then she did something different. cradling me as if I were a baby. I thought as I writhed in delight. I tumbled out of her lap and onto the ground. I soared above the scene for a while looking down at the monster holding my body. First she bit my face and I relished every sensation. She sat down on the hood of the car and laid me across her lap. each second seeming to take an hour. She breathed once again. Her tongue was like a miniature fire that seared over my body adding yet another sensation to the enchanting picnic of me. I got close to the towering giant. Obviously that person wasn’t a victim. And then she stopped. just like the scene that I saw in the middle of the night with that other person. It felt splendid. She reached down to pick me up in her long sinewy arms. Just like I patiently lay there like a rag doll on her lap waiting for the next bite to occur.
I saw the last of the Phoenix as he flew to his perch in the distant mountains to spend the day and the night until he was once again needed at dawn. he flew higher into the sky. “I couldn’t be better!” . blood and claw marks covering my body. I looked back at my friends and said. I turned to go back to the car but saw my friends had already gotten out and were running toward me. “Did you see that?” “We saw everything that happened last night. Mouth agape. With a beat of his wings. Looking back. but couldn’t wake up!” “Are you alright?” I looked down to see bites. I looked back in time to see the goblin fall to the ground and turn into a pile of desert dirt while she breathed her very last sob.
