EXPERIMENT 1

Aim of Experiment : To investigate the relationship between the mass of slotted weight, m, and
the period of oscillation of the spring, T.

Inference : Period of oscillation is depends on the mass of slotted weight

Hypothesis : The heavier the mass of slotted weight, the longer the period of oscillation.

Variable : Manipulated : Mass of slotted weight

Responding : Period of oscillation
Fixed : Initial length of spring

Apparatus : Spring, retort stand, slotted weight, stopwatch, string,

Procedure :
1. The apparatus is set up as shown in figure.
2. A 0.05kg of slotted weight is suspended to the spring
3. The time for 10 oscillation is taken. The reading is require.
4. Calculate the time taken for one oscillation which give the volume of oscillation, T is
determined.
5. Step 2 to 4 is repeated for 0.10kg, 0.15kg, 0.20kg, and 0.25kg.
6. The data is recorded.
7. A graph is drew corresponding to appropriate formula.
