Multi File Uploads
Although there is a work around to uploading multiple files it requires a few steps and I have always thought that multifile file uploading would be a nice resource to have in a Moodle course. I have added this capability to our Moodle install. This process uploads multiple files and adds them to the course topic you are on.

TIP SHEET
2

Create a Directory
Move to the topic or week you would like to add the files to. 1. On the top left of your course turn editing on 2. Select Add File or Files from resources. 3. If you want to create a folder for the files click on ManageFiles and scroll down until you see Make a folder. Give the folder a name then select create and close window.

3

Upload Multiple Files
1. On the top left of your course turn editing on 2. Select Add File or Files from resources.

3. Click on Browse to select the files you wish to upload 4. You can add files one by one or click on the first file then shift click on the last file to select a range of files. 5. Click Save and Return to Course. 6. You will see the progress bar show the upload in blue then green when the upload is completed and a window indicating that all files have been uploaded and placed in your chosen week or topic. Click on Ok and you should now see links to the files.

Groupings
Using groupings you can restrict access to other sections in your Moodle course. This allows you to make resources and activities visible to only your section or to all sections in the course.

Apply a Grouping to an Activity or Resource
This can be done when adding or updating a resource/activity. 1. In the ‘Common module settings’, make sure to click the Show advanced button. 2. This will add groupings, available for members only. 3. Check the ‘Available for group members only’ box. 4. Choose the appropriate Grouping (the section you want this to be visible for)

When the resource or activity is viewed in moodle you will see the name of the activity or resource followed by the section that can see the activity or resource. As seen below this forum is visible only to section (eight-2).

How Do I Communicate with My Section Only
Moodle Teachers can post to all groups or to individual groups. So one way to make contact with all students in your class is to create a forum (we can also use the quckmail block). Add a Forum Activity 1. Give the forum a title 2. Forum type is standard forum for general use 3. Force everyone to be subscribed select yes forever Follow same instructions found in Apply a Grouping to an Activity or Resource.
