In Febr uar y 2008, t he hospit al t ook on a leading r ole in t he t r eat ment of cancer aft er being designat ed
as a cancer t r eat ment base wit hin t he administ r at ive divisions of J apan.

infect ious diseases, pr ovides specialized t r eat ment for all illnesses. In par t icular , t he hospit al put s
emphasis on t he t r eat ment of hear t and cer ebr ovascular diseases.
Addit ionally, an emer gency r oom is pr ovided for use dur ing t he night and on holidays wit h a t ot al of
17 physicians on hand t o pr ovide emer gency t r eat ment . As well as emer gency cases, a depar t ment
specializing in t he t r eat ment of childr en of school age on an out -pat ient basis is open on Sat ur days
and Sundays t o make it easy for pat ient s t o come t o t he hospit al.
Based on t he concept s of "safet y, ser vice, manner s, scient ific foundat ion and t echnological
impr ovement s," t he nur sing depar t ment wor ks daily t oget her wit h physicians and ot her
depar t ment s t o pr ovide nur sing cent er ed on "t eam t r eat ment " wit h t he goal of cr eat ing a hospit al
wor t hy of t he t r ust of it s pat ient s. Mor eover , t he Respir at or y Cont r ol Team (RCT), t he Infect ion
Cont r ol Team (ICT) and t he Nut r it ion Cont r ol Team (NCT) make use of t he exper t ise of nur ses
qualified in emer gency and int ensive car e as well as infect ion cont r ol in t he execut ion of t heir
r espect ive funct ions.
The hospit al has a suppor t syst em t he aim of which is t o height en specialized knowledge and
t echnology t hr ough clinical t r aining for new nur ses pr ovided wit hin t he hospit al. Suppor t includes
guidance pr ovided by a job coach over a per iod of t hr ee mont hs and a t hr ee-year basic cour se t o
enable t r ainees t o gain independence as pr imar y nur ses. Following t his, ongoing educat ion such as
car r ier -enhancement and nur sing t r aining as well as Physical Assessment Seminar s and
