 One of the things I feel is very important is increasing club membership, both by increasing club

visibility and by making sure we have a warm, welcoming image. This is one of the most
important things and I cannot stress it enough. I have heard reports that the people manning
some of the BGLAD booths this summer seemed unfriendly and that this may have potentially
cost us new members. That is unacceptable to me.
 I have talked to several non-members about BGLAD events and one thing they all mentioned is
that they heard about BGLAD at orientation or at the beginning of the year but nothing more
since. It is imperative that we become more visible on campus. Perhaps through more
advertisement such as flyers or through “chalking.” I was also disappointed to learn that we had
no booth at the Hyde Park Street Fair. As president I would love to see a booth representing
BGLAD at most every event in the area and those booths manned by friendly, enthusiastic
volunteers.
 There are obviously more gays, lesbians, trans and allies on campus then there are members in
the club, my ultimate goal would be to make those numbers equal. One big step in that
direction would be to make certain that at the very least every lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, questioning, intersex and ally knows about the club, what we do, and how they can
get involved. That is a big goal but I feel sure we can accomplish it.
 I have noticed certain members of the club talking negatively about other members or even
posting derogatory comments on facebook. While I certainly don’t think it realistic to expect
everyone to be the best of friends, I do expect everyone to be respectful and supportive of their
fellow club members. BGLAD is supposed to a safe space for everyone and I expect everyone to
handle their differences like adults.
 Also, in the spirit of club unity, I feel it would be very important to, as has been mentioned
before, have regular social gatherings. Maybe club game nights or parties, anything to break the
ice and get to know each other better.
 It is also important for BGLAD to be involved in the community. Charity fundraisers are a must
and should be a priority. Doing work with charities also generates good publicity and will help to
increase membership.
 We also need a functioning website and communication system. Duh.
 Finally, as president I hope to be as accessible and friendly as possible, but I also expect you to
tell me if I’m not. Member input is vitally important and the presidency exists to serve you. I
would hope that everyone would feel comfortable communicating their concerns, telling me
what’s up, whatever. That’s how a democracy should be run. I feel like this club fills an
important niche, I’d love to see it thrive and blossom.
