You will not find any TRD-supplied caps in the kit. They are no longer used in the installation.

Do not refer to the diagrams in the back of the book. Use the diagram on the next page (also included in the
Electronic Boost Controller instructions).

Page 14, Step 18
Before doing this step, you will need to attach the
dynamic tensioner to the pulley plate. Remove the
TRD-supplied nut, washer and bolt from the
tensioner. Place the drive belt between the pulley
and belt tensioner (shown in the top figure). Then,
put the alignment pin of the tensioner into the
bottom hole in the plate. Insert the TRD-supplied
bolt (from the left) and reinstall the washer and nut.
The completed unit should look like that in the
bottom figure. Note that the bolt is visible. Torque
to 20 ft-lbs.

Now “load” the dynamic tensioner to allow
clearance for the alternator pivot bolt to be inserted.
Place a 3/8” ratchet head in the square hole on the
centerline of the pulley. Place a pin (not provided)
in the 1/8” hole to keep the tensioner from springing
back (see picture at right). A vice may be helpful to
hold the plates when pre-loading the tensioner.

To provide clearance for the drive plates, you will
need to remove the end of the water pump-housing
stud. Leave the nut in place and remove
approximately ¼” of the stud (see picture at right).

Continue to refer to Figure 43 in the book:
1) 10mm x 100mm flat head, 41 ft-lbs
2) 10mm x 30mm Allen head bolts, 47 ft-lbs
3) Bracket to Idler Plate, 16 ft-lbs
4) Bracket to Engine, 29 ft-lbs

Page 16, Step 24
To install the belt and pulleys, you will need to flex the dynamic tensioner with a 3/8” ratchet again. Once
everything is in place, remove the pin inserted in the 1/8” hole.

Page 16, Step 25
This step is no longer necessary. The spring-loaded pulley will automatically keep the belt at proper tension at
all times.

On a few vehicles, the supercharger may come close to the air conditioning line (near the firewall). Please
check for sufficient clearance between the air conditioning line and the supercharger and adjust the tube as
necessary to prevent interference.

Solara Convertible Only

To install the supercharger in a Solara Convertible, the factory Engine Moving Control Rod (left figure) is
removed and an Engine Moving Control Rod from a Solara hardtop (right figure) is used in its place. The part
