The Exploratory Latin Review Guide is an activity packet of teacher-designed materials to help prepare students for the national Exploratory Latin Exam (ELE). Using the ELE Syllabus as its framework, this guide attempts to provide a variety of activities and references, all designed to address the different age groups and learning styles of the students enrolled in exploratory Latin classes. There are two components to the packet: the print pages and the graphics CD. The print pages are are all referenced to the ELE syllabus. This syllabus represents the core material which is tested on the ELE. For nouns, the syllabus lists only the singular form unless the noun stem is contained in the plural form. Adjectives are listed in the masculine and feminine singular forms. Within each section of the packet there may be readings, explanations, songs, games, or worksheets focused upon a single ELE syllabus topic. For all worksheets, there are answer keys at the end of each section. Also, where appropriate, at the beginning of each section there are specific references to the graphics CD which contains full-color graphics in PDF format. These may be printed as board graphics or overheads. These are also referenced by section and within the text. Although the guide mirrors the ELE syllabus in its alphabetical arrangement, it is not intended to be used in such a sequence. While all of the sections have some stand-alone activities, they may also contain some activities that integrate with other sections. It is up to each classroom teacher to decide the order and method of presentation. Special thanks are given to Marie Davis of Fairfax County Public Schools for her editorial and proofreading expertise.
