With nine Primetime Emmys, another 3 wins and 82 nominations, the Late Show with David Letterman has

dominated the ratings since 1993, and it's still going. Now running its 17th season, the Late Show with David Letterman is a late-night comedy talk-show, hosted by David Letterman on CBS. Initially, Letterman was the host of the show Late Night with David Letterman on NBC, from 1982 to 1993, along with Shaffer and Wendell, but then transferred to CBS. There are also other American TV shows. Throughout the years, numerous people filled in for Letterman as guest hosts of the Late Show. In 2000, Dvid Letterman underwent a heart bypass surgery, and during his recovery several guest hosts continued the show, including Paul Shaffer, David Brenner, Charles Grodin, Tom Snyder, Bill Crosby, Tom Arnold, Dana Carvey and Regis Philbin. Then, in 2003, David Letterman recuperated from shingles, and his guest hosts included the famous Bruce Willis, Whoopi Goldberg, Vince Vaughn, Elvis Costello, Luke Wilson, John McEnroe, Will Ferrel, Bonnie Hunt, and again Regis Philbin, Paul Shaffer and Bill Cosby. In fact, Paul Shaffer was the guest host with most appearances, hosting again in 2003 when Letterman's girlfriend delivered their baby, Harry Joseph, and yet again in 2005 when Letterman went to Detroit to accept a car award. In 2007, the famous comedy actor Adam Sandler was the guest host after Letterman caught fever. Over the years, at least 29 people hosted the Late Show with David Letterman, so the audience never knew when they were in for a surprise watching the show. With 17 seasons so far, and still running, the Late Show with David Letterman is famous all across the world, as a comedy talk show full of witty remarks, funny moments, irony and surprise guests. David Letterman has become a legend with this show, and even now, in his 60s, he's still holding up and dedicates his life to the show. In constant rivalry with the Jay Leno's Tonight Show, David Letterman's fans seem to think that not Leno, nor Jimmy Kimmel on ABC can match the great Letterman.

The recordings take place Mondays (4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.), Tuesdays and Wednesdays (5:30 p.m.) and Thursdays (4:30 p.m.).
