You and your fellow researchers have just discovered a rare, new element! You have
named the element Mm. You have discovered that Mm is composed of three isotopes:
Mm-R, Mm-Y, and Mm-O. The atomic number of element Mm is 32. However, the
atomic mass unit (amu) of each isotope, the percent abundance of each isotope, and
the mass contribution of each isotope in element Mm is still unknown. In order to
complete your research, you need to find the average atomic mass of element Mm.
The following information should help you with your calculations:

Percent abundance of isotope X= (total # of isotope X in element) x 100 %

(total # of all isotopes in element)

Mass contribution of isotope X = (amu of isotope X) x (percent abundance of isotope X in element)

Average atomic mass of the element Mm = (mass contribution of isotope Mm-R) + (mass
contribution of isotope Mm-Y) + (mass contribution of isotope Mm-O) +……. Divided by the total
number of isotopes

Your research team has already determine the mass of the different isotopes of the element Mm:
Mm-R=65 amu
Mm-Y=66 amu
Mm-O=69 amu

Design and perform an experiment that will lead you to determine the average atomic mass of
element Mm. You must show how you determined the mass of each isotope, percent abundance of
each isotope, and mass contribution of each isotope.

Show ALL calculations!
