Background of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is an international university with campuses in Malaysia, United Kingdom, China, Cambodia, Borneo, Indonesia, Botswana and Lesotho where over 30000 students from 150 countries pursue their higher education. The Limkokwing University is triggering a global change in education. It is advocating the replacement of old systems with ones that adequately prepare young people to face new challenges unique to the world as it is today and as it will become tomorrow. First campus comprising a few bungalows in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.

The institute began its life as a creative organization. This meant that its looks, its advertising, its environment had to be well designed, stylish and outstanding. Its campus at Jalan Tun Razak, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur¶s golden triangle, was painted in vibrant colours using the main elements of design-square, circle and triangle to form the core patterns. The Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology (as it was known then) was established to play an active role enabling much needed technology transfer in the area of creative education. The Institute had started to create strategic links with reputable and well-established universities and colleges in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At the same time the Institute had forged strong connections with industry to provide guidance and support to enable the right environment of learning to students. The Institute was the first step forward towards achieving a successful and rewarding career for students. For parents the Institute was an eye-opener as they began to see the wide-ranging possibilities in creative careers. For industry it gave them an opportunity to participate in nurturing much needed creative capability. For government the Institute was a primary resource in developing creative capital.

The move to its own premises in Cyberjaya created an opportunity to be innovative. And in doing so the Institute grew. It reviewed. in keeping with its core identity as an institution focused on creativity. It expanded. Its new premises in Mayang. The philosophy was simply to empower the individual. Petaling jaya. As the Institute evolved to become a University College so did its architectural design. . For the next ten years the Institute set the pace for the education community. It upgraded. Petaling Jaya was painted black with bright designs that were quite striking.A larger complex in Mayang. It revamped. The use of a special kind of netting imported from South Korea enabled the wrapping of the building creating a skin that could be designed in artistic way that could be replaced with new designs.
