When software undergoes a testing process, the testers get lot of information. This information is the greatest source of metrics. The different kinds of metrics include testing metrics, process metrics, progress metrics, project metrics, defect metrics and so on. Testing metrics or test metrics help to measure the quality of the software i.e. it helps to identify the errors in the current testing process which will help in enhancing the software testing process. The info like the real status, quality and productivity of the testing effort provided by testing metrics helps to ensure the quality of the software.

These testing metrics need to be tracked and there are several test management systems available, which make the testers work easier. If any test case is created or executed anywhere in the system, any defect filed or changed, any resource added or removed, they are immediately updated and are neatly arranged in charts, summaries and data tables. Every info about the product release; be it track creation, execution and defects by release, priority or user is just a click away.

So get the help of these systems to track the testing metrics and thus make sure that the product released is of high quality.
