THE PRELUDE – Bharat 2 Day

- Fade in from black -

INT.ROOM.NIGHT

Those dark kohl lined eyes gazed upon itself, the mirror never lies,
may be a few strokes of night could hide those maimed tear drops. So
she tried in vain, the kohl dug deeper, she stopped. The frail fingers
touched upon the tender partings of her lips, she rested her head
back. Nails dug deeper into her skin as she pressed hard, she stopped.
The red of the lipstick carried the stench of the virgin blood,
wavering lips kissed upon its stench, they were ready, as tender and
ever so poisonous. She lit up her ever so faithful white, its trail of
fire and ash comforted her charred soul. Her toes curled as the tender
pink brushed upon, her head rested on her knees as she curled her
presence in shame.

V.O. (Sakhi)
“It is true that lesbians do not have families;

She looked away, as if dazed out of her dream as the cell phone beeped
and buzzed, the display flashed;

“Customer Safdarganj calling…”


She reached for it.

The stranger holding a cell phone peeped out of the screen of the
laptop; she was trying to spot someone.

Sakhi hangs up the phone and swears under her breath

“Huh(smirk)”
She dials another no.

Sakhi
“Haan, kitne time ke liye pay kiya”

Voice from the phone


“Adha ghanta”

Sakhi disconnects the call.

She looks back, ever so with unsaid revulsion at the bright screen of
the laptop which lay on the bed, looks at the camera and walks away
towards the bed.

The morning holds drops of her panting bosom, her sweat trickles down,
wander lust can now find its ever evading thirst. She stretches and

She turns on the shower, looks away as the drops falls.

Sakhi serves a mug of beer/bottle of beer to a customer sitting by the


bar counter and smiles and places her hand beside the glass.
Sakhi
“Here you go”

The customer looks at her and places his hand on hers’

Customer
“And what else do you serve?”

Sakhi bends forward looks right into his eyes, smirks

Sakhi
“Nothing that will interest you”

She draws her hand and pats on the customer’s hand, and walks away;
the customer takes a sip and looks at her, as she gets cozy with her
next customer who is a woman.
- Fade in sound of shower -

INT.BATHROOM.DAY

Sakhi is sitting on the floor as another woman joins her in the


bathroom; it’s the same woman who was in the bar, wrapped in a towel,
she sits beside her.

V.O. (Sakhi).
“A little turn off for men you see, lesbian hone ka drawback (Beat)
ya shayad fayda”

EXT.NIGHT/DAY.ROAD/BUS STOP

Dress -Long Skirt- preferably white, kurti – preferably cotton earthy color and full sleeve or
sleeve less/glossy lipstick, shades, accessories – head wear, bandana/duppatta/necklace – big
beaded)

Sakhi walks by the road, , walks past a couple standing and holding
hands, the girl notices her and looks at her, she looks back and
raises her eyebrows, the boy who was till now busy telling something
to the girl, looks at Sakhi. She stops and drinks some water from a
bottle, draining the rest on her face, sits by the footpath and drinks
it.

Sakhi stands at the bus stop and waves at a bus/auto and walks away.
(Focus Pull/Rack Focus)

Vishy stands at the same bus stop, an I-pod plugged in his ears, lost
in his world, tap-ping and humming, when he suddenly realizes that his
phone is buzzing, he takes the call.

Vishy
“Kitne baje (beat)…coolio daddy, hey is Ur hottie coming down (beat)
(laughs), I will be there darling, for sure…muah

EXT.DAY.FOOT BRIDGE…

There is bounce in every step Vishy takes, the I – pod is still tucked
in his ears, grooving to the tune (Jump Cuts).He changes the track.

(OLD DELHI TYPES, OR A OLD COLONY – Himanshu’s Colony)

Vishy comes and sits by two hippies smoking up.

Vishy

“Hey Bro”

Hippy

“Hey”

He shares the bong, which the hippie was smoking, pays and gets his
supply, shakes hand and walks away, high on Ganja. He changes the
track again.

EXT.DAY.COLLEGE

He stands by the college building looking up, the building looks


ominous and dominating an effect of the dope he has just smoked, and
he shakes his head and walks away.

INT.DAY.CLASS
(Montage)
He sits absolutely bored, in a trance in the class room keeping on
changing the tracks of his I – pod, as different teachers come and
leave, he finally falls down exhausted on the desk and watches as if
in a daze, a group of pansy guys dancing in a group, behind the
teacher.
(Changing tracks every time when the teachers change [transition element])
- CUT -

EXT.DAY/NIGHT.SUBWAY/CROWDED LANE/Over Bridge/Foot Bridge

He along with the group of the pansy guys are walking. Joking,
dancing, and climbing on ones back, having a good time.

They look at each other and smile, drinking their drinks, and making
their joints.

EXT.NIGHT/DAY.ROAD SIDE

Vishy stands leaning on the wall, so are other guys, all dressed up n
decked up, all waiting for their customers, he is restless and keeps
looking at his watch. A car pulls up, the glass rolls down and a guy
peeps out, Vishy gets in and the other guys on the streets make faces.

“Sala, rand hur roz gari wale hi milte hai ise”

INT.DAY/NIGHT.CAR

The guy looks at Vishy, touching his hair

Vishy smiles, and uses his thumbs to signal money, and lights his
cigarette.

The man’s hand slides to his thighs.

Vishy
“Slow man”

Customer
“How much?”

Vishy signals two. The Customer Shakes his head, and signals one.
Vishy smiles at his gesture and opens the door of the car to leave,
the customer places his hand on Vishy’s shoulder, Vishy looks back,
and the customer takes the cigarette out of his lips and takes a drag.
They drive off.

- CUT -

INT.ROOM.NIGHT

Vishy lies on the bed; half covered by a white sheet, one leg
stretched out and uncovered, smoking, the man beside him is fast
asleep. He takes another drag and looks into the camera

Vishy
“Kya dekh raha hai; Huh?”

Vishy sniffs up the coke lying by the bed, rubs his nose,

Vishy

“Two thousand for 2 hours, can it get any easier?”

He wears his watch and calls up someone.

Vishy
“Ya darling will be there in an hour “

He sits on the bed and wears his shirt.

Vishy
No, not always men, even women.

EXT.NIGHT/DAY.ROAD SIDE

It’s the same spot where he was picked up by the man lying beside him
now)

A car pulls up, a woman peeps out, of the window Vishy gets in,
looking into the camera, smirking.
- CUT –

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

He is almost dressed, standing in front of the mirror, setting his


hair and checking himself out.
Vishy

“What! (Shrugs his shoulder) Its good business, anyways money’s always
more when it’s a woman”.

Vishy kisses the guy sleeping, looks at the camera.

Vishy
“I prefer his types though”
Smirks and leaves…

EXT.NIGHT.ROAD

“Not much difference, when you are fucking (Beat) like Dr Dang always
says admi ka pichwara aur aurat ki chut maro to to dhage bhar ki farak
na pata chale”

Smirks and makes a call (Music – Dhan Tana – Kaminey the dialogue
fades out) he signals for an auto. As he leaves the frame, a person

riding in a bike approaches, and stops, Karma lights up a cigarette


looks into his watch. He takes a few more drags and wait. A man
standing on the opposite side of the street walks up to Karma gives
him a package. Karma looks at him intensely; the other man looks down
and walks away as Karma gets up on his bike, kick starts and leaves.

EXT.DAY.MARKET (Baroula)

Karma walks through a market, and stops, looks around, goes to a paan
shop buys a cigarette packet, and the shop owner, passes a chit to
him.

He walks away. Gets up on his bike reads the chit.

INT.DAY.AMITY CONSTRUCTION SITE

A man is tied to the chair; Karma has parked the bike in front of him,
and is sitting on it, smoking. He drinks water from a bottle and walks
up to the man empties it on the unconscious guy. The guy snaps out of
his unconsciousness. The guy looks at Karma,

Guy
“Tum, tum to ...”
Karma takes out the gun, readies it and points it point blank at his
prisoner.
Guy
“Wait,Kyun?”

Karma
“Saaf Kar raha hun, cleaning my my dad’s filth” (Bang)

The man lies dead, tied to the chair, as Karma gets up on the bike, he
looks into the camera.
Karma
“Kabhi ghar ana, tab baat karenge”

He rides off.

INT.DAY.HOUSE

Karma wearing a serene white shirt /pant/Kurta/Pajamas (spectacles);


sit in the balcony of his house,
Karma
“Papa ne, bachaya unhe aur mai maar raha hoon(beat)”

“He was a lawyer, successful (beat) well known very well known…among
the circles of the rich and the guilty”.

He takes a sip of his coffee, lights a cigarette

Karma
“That’s how he met mom, saved my grandfather, won his case”

INT.DAY.KITCHEN

He walks inside, into the kitchen; pours some milk and sugar in his
coffee, makes another cup of coffee…and walks away

Karma
“No, money was never a problem, paise ke liye nahi marta hoon inhe”

He walks into a room and places the cup of coffee by the side of Vishy
who was fast asleep, and shakes him up, asking him to wake up, Vishy
stirs a little.

Karma stands by the balcony now, sipping his coffee…

Karma
“It’s about cleaning them up, one by one, reaching into the cracks of
law, and pulling them out by their collar and shoot the bastards”

Vishy comes from behind in his boxers and banyan sipping his cup of
coffee. He looks at Vishy and then at the camera…

Karma
“So, I am just a self appointed vigilante, (beat, and a simple shrug)
a gay vigilante, or a hitman, so what”.

Vishy looks at him and says,


Vishy
“So what? Just that the Coffee is as bad as always…Dee …dee”

Vishy leaves calling out for someone and Karma stands looking out.

Sakhi steps out of the bathroom, hair wet/wrapped with towel, and
Vishy almost bumps into her

Sakhi
“Oops, dekh ke”

Vishy follows her, complaining about the coffee…

INT.BATHROOM.DAY
Karma is in the bathroom, shaving, Vishy walks in brushing, spits and
walks out.
Karma
Ek sau bais 112, that’s the no of criminals free today in Delhi, all
because of my dad(beat)…well not 122 actually unnis ko to….

He washes his face.

Karma
“Hundred and three”
He checks himself up in the mirror,
Karma
“Bahut baki hai abhi”

He turns and walks into the frame.

Vishy is sitting and eating his breakfast, so is Sakhi, serving and


passing the food around. Karma joins them. Vishy gulps down his
sandwich; another person a man with breasts (Brahma –the eunuch
professor) joins them at the table.
They speak to one another, and joke about things. Brahma looks away
from the rest of the three into the camera, and the suddenly the mood
of the room changes,

V.O.
Aur yeh kahani hai meri and the three of the individuals, the
weirdities of nature as you all call us…

It’s no more day, but night, and the man with the boobs sits alone at
the same setting, a shrill cry of a woman crying can be heard, the man
with boobs sit, tears rolling out of his eyes, blood on his shirt, he
is sweaty, hair all shaggy , sound of news bulletins and reporters can
be heard but everything is gibberish, and again we are back into day,
and all four are sitting and eating, the man with the boobs still
gazing at the camera.

EXT.NIGHT.ROAD

(Back to the scene of Vishy Leaving the frame and the Hitman coming into the frame)

Smirks and makes a call (Music – Dhan Tana – Kaminey the dialogue
fades out) he signals for an auto. As he leaves the frame, a person
riding in a bike approaches, and stops, Karma lights up a cigarette
looks into his watch.

“Where is the party tonight, Andy’s place, woohoo… am flying babe…


gimme half an hour”

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

The lights flashes, the four guys along with Vishy groove to the
music, lost as if in Trance. (ref: Lock Stock scene)
EXT.NIGHT.ROAD

A man standing on the opposite side of the street walks up to Karma


gives him a package. Karma looks at him intensely; the other man looks
down and walks away as Karma gets up on his bike, he opens the
package, and takes out a paper; bearing an address, time and a photo
of a man (the one he shoots in the factory/poultry/construction site).

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

Vishy and his gang are taking shots of Tequila, kicking and jumping.

INT.DAY. AMITY BASEMENT PARKING/CONSTRUCTION SITE

Karma is chasing the man in the photo, and gains onto him, catches
him, hits him and drags him to a corner.

EXT.NIGHT.ROAD/STAIRCASE
(Use of light painting, and motion photography)

Vishy and his friends are high, and are singing the tune (DHANTAN –
Kaminey).They walk swaying and falling on each other down d stairs
bidding goodbye to Vishy.

INT.DAY/NIGHT.FACTORY/CONSTRUCTION SITE/POULTRY

A man is tied to the chair; Karma has parked the bike in front of him,
and is sitting on it, smoking. He drinks water from a bottle and
empties it on the unconscious guy. The guy snaps out of his
unconsciousness. The guy looks at Karma,

He stands alone, looking here and there, Tries to call someone.

Karma is returning after his 19th kill, riding a bike…

Vishy looks at his watch, he signals for a hitchhike to people


crossing, and mumbles

“Noor, bastard, took all the cash…come on someone stop”

Karma, who was riding back after his kill, sees Vishy signaling, he
stops…Vishy looks at him,

Vishy

“Chodega Mujhe”

Karma

“Kaha”

Vishy walks around him in a circular fashion, and then gets up on the
bike. Karma turns his head and says…

“Don’t u stand around the carver chowk road every night?”

Vishy

“Hmm…now I remember I have seen you there a couple of times;

Vishy smiles and wraps his arm around him

Vishy

“So I guess you can take me home”

Karma

“It’s my birthday today; we can take some cake on the way back”

Vishy

“Coolio man, u want me to be the topping”

And they ride off.

Vishy and Karma lie, on the bed, covered by a white sheet, leaning
back on the backrest, music plays in the background.

Vishy is looking at the gun which Karma holds in his hand

Vishy

“So u kills them”

Karma

“Nahi, they are already dead”

Vishy

“Kaise”

Karma

“If law took its course years back then they would have already been
sentenced”

Vishy

“Ooook…like Dr Dang always says, u gotta do, what u gotta do”

Vishy takes the the cup of cake and feed it to karma…

Karma

“Will u stay?”

Vishy

“Ya, where am I going, itne raat ko”

Karma takes a spoon full and gives it to Vishy

Vishy looks at Karma and asks him playfully

INT.DAY...CORRIDOR

Brahma is walking with books in his hands and is speaking to the


camera

Brahma

“ Vishy stayed…He just wanted to know what Karma did, for living, and
that was it, for him he just wanted to know and promised to seal it
for good.

INT.DAY.STAIRCASE

Brahma is climbing the staircase and talking

Eunuch

“Karma told him, the truth, why he had no idea. And all Vish ever said
was cool!!!

Everything was just normal for them”

INT.ROOM.DAY

V.O. (Eunuch)

“Apart from Vish’s antics with Karma’s weapons… Which often resulted
in a cut of his pocket money”

Vishy wearing a shirt, unbuttoned and a boxer, is aiming the gun


playfully at Karma, who wants it back, they are going around the
table, where karma finally catches him from behind and lifts him up,

Karma is sitting on his motorbike, as Vishy is cribbing, asking him


for more money, and Karma just shakes his head, Karma trying to thrust
the money into Vish’s Hand, and Vish creating a Ruckus…and Karma
trying to Shhhh… him …

INT.DAY.AT THE DOOR OF THE CLASS ROOM”

“Karma had no problem with Vish’s nature; he could fling out on his
job as a par time sex worker. His only instruction was, none of his
clients were welcome to his place. And Vish obliged”, Excuse me now, I
have a lecture to give”

The eunuch walks into the class and the door shuts.

INT.CAR.DAY

INT.DAY.DRAWING ROOM/BED ROOM

A man sits on the sofa/bean bag, he is watching with utmost interest


something on the TV, from the sound of it, and we can make out its
porn. His expression intense, awe gaped, changing with every sound.

INT.DAY.ROOM

He gets up and walks away to a different room, takes a book out of the
cabinet, and walks away.

He sits down on the sofa, the T.V. still playing, he opens the book,
of Freud, and reads it, this time not interested what is going on the
screen, though sometimes as the sound goes up, and the girl cries out
of extreme pleasure, he peeps out, but as if he wants to hide behind
the book his eyes goes back to the lines. Finally as the voice reaches
its zenith, he gets up as if completely flabbergasted and switches the
TV.

EXT.DAY.BALCONY

He is talking over the phone

He walks into the room, an expression of disgust on his face…

Brahma

“Nahi tu chor de…tu aur dekh hi maat aur….mai hi dhoond loonga..aur


koi na mile to…akele hi reh lunga…

He is back into the room and stands in front of the mirror checking
himself up

Brahma

“Delhi ke sabse prime location mei hai yeh jagah…aur tujhe koi na mil
raha hai…ek tenant bhi nahi… (Beat)….

He stops fiddling with his hair…

Brahma

“kya…kaisa hoon mai…insaan hoon na….tere se aur tere woh customers se


zyada pada likha hoo”

He cuts the call abruptly and stands in front of the mirror, looking
into the mirror his eyes slowly moving down to his breasts, his
fingers wavering reaching out for its reflection, when the bell rings…

He is jolted back to reality…turns and walks away

Krama parks his bike in front of a building, as Vishy looks at it…

Vishy

“Eeew…this place looks like so…(beat)down town”

Karma locks the bike and gives a questioning look at him and walks
away, Vish follows him…

INT.SAIRCASE.BUILDING

As they climb the stairs, Vish follows Karma, complaining about the
place…

Karma

“Sidhiyaan bhi kitna who…steep hai and so claustrophobic”

Karma walks without paying much attention….they reach a flat and rings
the bell

INT.DAY.ROOM

The eunuch’s fingers waver as he reaches out for its reflection, when
the bell rings…

He is jolted back to reality…turns and walks away…

INT.DAY.OUTSIDE THE FLAT DOOR

Vishy and karma stands, karma trying to shut Vishy’s gibbering up,
when the Eunuch opens the door…

Karma and Vishy looks at him simultaneously as if a bit surprised, so


does Bramha at them…both parties have a questioning look on their face

Bramha

“Yes, how may I help you?”

Karma

“Saw the to let ad, so u renting the place”

Brahma

“Come in”

As they walk in Brahma closes the door, with a faint smile on his lips

- Dip to Black -

INT.ROOM.DAY

V.O. (Vishy)

“To jagah to mil gayi hume…waise eek choti si twist reh gayi”

Vishy sits on the sofa watching TV where Brahma was sitting (earlier),
Brahma walks into the frame and sits beside him… Vishy looks at him…a
bit disgusted and look backs to the TV where VH1 was playing.

V.O. (Vishy)

“We did not get the place all to ourselves…yeh humare professor sahib
sharing basis pe rehne lage humare saath…”

Brahma looks at Vishy then at the TV and takes the remote to change
the channel…Vishy looks at him pissed, Brahma looks back

Brahma

“Discovery…these people are so curious about…

Vishy does not wait for Brahma to complete the line and walks away;
Brahma a bit disappointed gets back watching the T.V

V.O.

“Professor even kept the TV on a sharing basis…weirdo…”

EXT.DAY.BALCONY DOOR

Karma and Brahma stood at the door of the balcony and spoke to each
other…sipping cups of tea as Vishy looked over at them, i-pod tucked
in his ears

V.O.

“Karma ko to jaise dikhtei nahi the…uske u knw Boobs, I never


understood, how did he manage it…I mean ek higra jo padha lika ho…khud
professor ho... but all the same he was still the weirdo”

Vishy gets up and walks to the balcony willfully dashing against the
professor almost making the cup fall…as karma almost shouting… but he
professor stopping him

INT.DAY.CAR

Brahma it’s in the car, looking out the window…looks back at the
camera…smiles

Brahma

“Just a kid…it always takes time u knows…

He nods his head slightly and get out of the car.

INT.BATHROOM.DAY

Vishy stands in front of the mirror wrapped in a towel, his tooth


brush tucked in his mouth…and he styling his hair up…

Someone bangs on the door…

Vishy

“Time Lagega”

Brahma stands outside the door.

Brahma

“Vishy, mujhe mujhe college pahuchna hai…please hurry up”

Vishy

“Imitating him, “Mujhe College pahuchna hai” spits out…time lagega aap
jao na doosre wale bathroom mei

Brahma

“I told you, I need this one…I have my stuff here

Vishy Picks up Brahma’s bra and looking at it…laughing…comically


putting it on…and walking towards the door and opening it…

Vishy

Ooh…these pairs… are yours

Brahma looks a bit pissed and pulls the bra off, and swears under his
breath…

Vishy stands at the balcony…smoking and looks at the camera.

“Yah…I overdid it sometimes…but it was good fun…never thought I would


hurt him though

Brahma sits on the couch, lost he has a swelling and a cut mark and
band aid at the side of his face,

he’s high as he smoke his joint, Brahma wipes off his tears and
switches on the T.V.

And Vishy tries to force his joint on Brahma, as Brahma tries to turn
his head away

Brahma tries to resist

Brahma holds his hand and slaps him, Vishy jeers at him

Brahma turns angry and tears roll out of his eyes…

Brahma stands up… looking down at Vishy, tries to say something, looks
away and back at Vishy

“Mai hijra hokar bhi aaj kai mardo aur kai aurato se…(beat)…

Brahma sits down on the couch beside Vishy…

(Sound of Gay right discussion swells)

INT.DAY.ROOM

Vishy and Brahma stand at the door of the Balcony as Karma looks over
at them

V.O

“Aur us din ke baad se, dekh hi rahe ho app log”

Vishy is speaking with Brahma

“I mean who are they to decide how we live our lives”

“Hmm (beat) you are right…your choice is what nature bestowed upon
you… (looks up) and I guess that I get is as free a choice anyone gets
these days”

Karma smiles and turns back at the camera…

Vishy sits on the floor as Sakhi is messaging oil onto his head, Karma
walks past them, and Vishy tries to grab him, but Sakhi pulls him by
his hair back

“Aah dee ee”

Sakhi

“Chup chap baith”

Vishy

“peeche aur thoda peeche”

Sakhi keeps messaging his head,

Sakhi

“Inhe bataya, how did this trio become the core four (looks at the
camera)

Vishy looks at Sakhi, looks down…

Vishy

“tum hi bata do…waise bhi tum hume bolne kaha deti ho”

Sakhi

“Shut up… (And pulls Vishy by his ear)”

She looks at the camera…smiles…

INT.BAR.NIGHT

Sakhi places a mug of beer/bottle of beer and smiles and places her
hand beside the glass.

“Here you go”

The customer looks at her and places his hand on hers’

“And what else do you serve”

Sakhi bends forward looks right into his eyes, smirks

The man keeps on looking at her, and keeps on drinking.

EXT.NIGHT. AMITY BASEMENT PARKING LOT

The man at the bar stands at the corner of a pillar, watching Sakhi
bidding goodbye to her friends… as her friends’ leave Sakhi walks
towards the place where the man was hiding…

The man walks in front, lights up a cigarette and Sakhi stops.

Man

“So, what else do u serve?”

EXT.NIGHT.OUTSIDE PARKING

Vishy stands outside the parking, Karma sits on his bike smoking

Karma

“Tum jake dekho, if it’s there give me a call”

Vishy nods and before he leaves he takes the cigarette out of Karma’s
lips takes a drag, shoves it back in Karma’s mouth and walks.

EXT.NIGHT/.PARKING LOT/SUBWAY

The man holds Sakhi by her throat, as Sakhi struggles. He touches her
lips and runs her fingers down her cheeks. Sakhi pants and gasps for
breath as the man’s grips tightens. Her eyes fiery and cheeks
shaking.

Man

“Haan haan, kya bol rahi thi(beat) what else haan what else, bol na”

Sakhi pushes him away hard, and tries to run, but the man regains
control over her, as he drags her back by her hair.

Vishy walks around the parking checking the cars, when he suddenly
spots, the man and Sakhi struggling

EXT.NIGHT/DAY.OUTSIDE PARKING

Karma stands smoking, checking his watch…

EXT.NIGHT/DAY.PARKING LOT/SUBWAY

Vishy is trying to get Sakhi out of the man’s grip, Vishy gets
brutally kicked and falls down, he gets up but as the man takes out a
gun and points at Vishy, we see the light of the bike as Karma rides
into the scene. He stops by Vishy, his eyes burning, he looks at Vishy
checks his face as its battered and bruised, he looks back at the man
still holding Sakhi by her neck/hair and pointing the gun once at
Karma then at Vishy. Karma gets down, and walks towards the man, holds
his gun and puts it against his forehead

Karma

“Chala, gurde mei boota hai to chala”

Karma takes out his gun, with his other hand.

(From some distance – background action which is in shallow focus) The


man falls down with sound of bang.

- CUT –

INT.ROOM.DAY
(Same place, where Sakhi was giving Vishy an oil message)

Sakhi
“Aur tab se, yahi hai meri parivaar, my family”

She bends down and hugs Vishy, who was had his i-pod plugged in, and
he places his hand around Sakhi and they smile and rock softly.

INT.ROOM/NEAR THE DOOR.NIGHT

The eunuch opens the door, Vishy who is battered and swollen walks in,
Karma follows, his shirt hand wet with blood, still supporting Sakhi,
the eunuch awe gaped and shocked.

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

Karma sits on the ground as Vishy bandages his arm, Sakhi sits perched
on the sofa, the eunuch comes in carrying two cups of coffee, and
hands one to karma, and the other to Sakhi, sit beside her and
consoles her as Sakhi drinks it.

V.O. (Sakhi)
“Professor ko bhi usi din Karma ka bare mei pata chala, aur mujhe bhi,
farak itna tha ki unhe thoda time laga ise accept karne mei par mere
liye…”

INT.BALCONY.DAY
Sakhi stands by the balcony, looking out; Karma sits by her, sipping
coffee
Sakhi
“Mere liye toh… (she looks at Karma, gives a lop sided smile)…”

They look outside…

Vishy walks in and stands looking out.

Vishy
“But, why didn’t you kill him”
Karma
“Sab ko ek mauka to dena chahiye”
Vishy
“I really don’t get you sometimes, he shot at you, and uske baato se
to nahi lag raha tha ki he was even a bit….”
Sakhi
“Haan, kya bol raha tha who, ki kiska beta
Vishy
“Some M.P. or M.L.A’s son…he smirks”

Karma closes his eyes, the three sit quietly looking out of their
balcony.

The professor walks in,

Bharat 7 Months later


Day – 377

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

Vishy enter the flat, opens his shoes and walks to his room, he throws
the bag on the bed and falls down flat on the bed. He takes his i-pod
plugs it in.

Vishy sits on the sofa, watching T.V., almost hooked onto it, where
Discussions about gay rights & Article 377 is being aired; he calls up
some of his friends, informing them about what was going on.

Sakhi steps into the apartment and walks past him brushing his hair
with her hand, Vishy looks back at her, smiles n says
Vishy
“Dee I think it’s going to happen today”

Anticipation written all over his face.

INT.NIGHT.SAKHI’S ROOM

Sakhi goes to her room, the sound of the TV loud; she stands in front
of the mirror, breathes heavy and opens her hair.

Vishy sits perched up on the Sofa, Sakhi comes and hands over a cup of
Coffee to Vishy, and sits beside him. The two sit hooked to the
television, as a debate rages over the channel.
Vishy gets aggravate by a comment by an interviewee and burst out.
Sakhi puts her hand over his shoulders to cool him down.

EXT.BALCONY.NIGHT

Sakhi walks and stands by the balcony, and lights up a cigarette. The
professor climbs the stairs.

Sakhi stands smoking.

INT.DRAWING ROOM.NIGHT

Inside Vishy has turned red, looking at the television. As the bell
rings, he gets up to open the door.

EXT.BALCONY.NIGHT

Sakhi looks back as she hears the sound of the bell.

As Vishy opens the door, the professor notices his moist eyes and red
face, and asks him what is wrong.

INT.DRAWING ROOM.NIGHT

All three of them sit in front of the TV.

(MUSIC SWELLS)
All looking tensed…Sakhi’s eyes filled with tears, Vishy’s suddenly
bursts and stands up with a cry of relief. Sakhi sits perched, smiling
and crying. The professor sits with an expression of triumph on his
face. Vishy exalts, punching the air (Back ground of Declaration).
Vishy hugs Sakhi; she takes some time to hug back. The professor puts
his hands on Sakhi’s head.

Their phones start buzzing…(intercut of scenes of the pansy


friends….lesbian partners…all exalting in tears, smiling as they speak
over phones or sit alone in front of the television ).

INT.SAKHI’S ROOM. NIGHT

Sakhi stands in front of the cupboard, takes out some clothes, and
money.

INT.VISHY’S ROOM.NIGHT

Vishy goes through his wallet.

Vishy breaks his piggy bank, and coins fall out.

The professor sits quietly smoking…

Vishy comes carrying the change and sits besides the professor
counting them rubbing his nose.

Sakhi comes dressed carrying a purse.

“I am going to get the cake”.

Brahma stubs the cigarette, gets up

“Mai khana order karta hoon”

Vishy, who was counting, looks up at the two

They leave the apartment one by one, the TV still on.

Sakhi carries the cake. Vishy wearing his Party cap fool around puts
it over professor hugging him from the back.

They fill up the balloons with air, hangs the colored papers, talking
over phone. The professor looks at Sakhi and asks

Brahma
”Where is Karma, does he know”

INT.NIGHT.BUILDING

Karma runs and takes shelter against a wall/tank panting, blood oozing
out of his left shoulder, he sits putting the magazine in the gun,
sweating profusely, his phone vibrates, he is in pain, and he takes
call. It’s Vishy,

Vishy

“Karm, come home soon…it’s done…”

Karma looks around


Karma

“Kya?”

INT.ROOM.NIGHT

Vishy over phone, all in tears…

“It’s gone, it’s gone…we’re free”

Karma’s Expression of happiness, looks around again and smiles


(Silent) hitting his head against the wall.

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

Vishy
“Jaldii…we all waiting”

Vishy disconnects the call looks at Sakhi

“He is coming in some time…”

INT.NIGHT.BUILDING

Guys with guns searching for him, Karma stands up, looks from within a
metallic barrier and shoots.

INT.BATHROOM.NIGHT

Inside the flat, almost everything is fixed and decorated,

Sakhi, stands in front of the basin washing her face, smiling…

Vishy putting the candles on the cake as bell rings, Brahma who
sorting out the food on the table standing opposite to Vishy looks at
him with a smile, Vishy Jumps up.

Vishy
“Kammy”

Vishy runs and opens Door the man looks rapist …along with goons….

Vishy tries to close the door horrified, the guy pushes it open points
the gun and walks in…

”Chal chal chal…andar chal andar”

Pushes him with the gun... and walks in followed by his goons…as Vishi
Struggles, the 3 crosses the lobby and sees Brahma standing up…the
rapist signals with his gun and says

Signals his goons.

”bitha re...hijra ko bitha re”

The two people move and stop the advance of the professor; the rapist
looks at Vishy and laughs mockingly…

“sala, tu hijjro ke saath rehta hai kya, aanh…”

By then Sakhi come out of the room, and stops…the rapist’s eyes fall
on her and he, pushes on his left, with the gun, and walks towards
Sakhi, and shifts the gun to his other hand, and calls her, a wicked
smile on his face

”aaja (Beat)idhar aa…tu idhar aa”…

Vishy makes a move, the professor now made to sit shouts

Brahma
“Vishy”

Sakhi’s attention breaks towards Vishy’s and tries pushing him away
and the rapist gives him a thrustand Vishy falls the rapist looks at
him still walking towards Sakhi ..

Rapist
“Bola na tujhe…koi harkat nahi”

And looks at Sakhi shoots Vishy while walking, as Vishy is shot Sakhi
screams out and runs towards him, Brahma, bites down on the man’s arm,
and gets pulled down by his hair and the rapist catches her before she
can reach him.

INT.STAIRCASE.NIGHT

Meanwhile, Karma runs down the stairs with the gun, blood oozing out
of his shoulder, and hides behind a wall, a man crosses it, and karma,
standing behind and points at him, a smirk on his face…

INT.ROOM.NIGHT

The professor lies blood oozing he’s expression fiery, the goon
smoking a cigarette

“dekh Dekh”

And brings the cigarette to burn his cheeks…

EXT.NIGHT.BASEMENT

Karma runs and crosses the camera. Three guys run and stop, (Rack
Focus) they look around, and signal something to each other and the
three takes three different lanes and walks pointing their gun.

Karma walks from the back, stands and nudges his neck, and walk behind
them pointing the gun, his eyes stone cold.

INT.ROOM.NIGHT

Sakhi sits perched, the rapist in front of him

“yaha mara tha na..tere who…”


Looks around and rubs his head…

“dekh na…langra bana diya muje...yahan na...

And he just shoots Vishy in his leg as he wreathes with pain……”

(With the bang)

INT.NIGHT.BASEMENT

Karma walks up gun pointed, to someone lying on the ground, he is


pointing the gun, now blood even oozes from his belly but he shows no
pain, a man lies panting, well dressed, blood on his chest, he smirks
in pain n gasps n takes his last breath, Karma checks him up with his
boots, and walks off…

He now walks with people lying dead in the background, stops, d wound
bothering him, stops, checks d blood, looks ahead, smiles and takes
out his cell phone…

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

A cell phone beeps silently lying on the floor, Vishy lies on the
ground…in a pool of blood…tagged down by one of the goons, tears
rolling out of his eyes, he is almost passing off, Sakhi lies on the
bed watching Vishy die, as Brahma is dragged back by his feet…as he
tries to wriggle …Sakhi getting raped…

EXT.NIGHT.ROAD

Karma rides the bike, speeds up and crosses…his face once in darkness
once in the light as he crosses the light.

INT.NIGHT.ROOM

The rapist walks away, and in the background another goon, gets into
the act…Vishy Lies still, as the rapist comes and checks him…Brahma
sits still looking at Vishy,…and Sakhi lays still without any fight,
looking in the direction of Vishy…

EXT.NIGHT.OUTSIDE FLAT

Karma stops the bike, gets down, his shirt red with blood…his foot
unsteady…as he climbs up…blood on the walls where he touches…he
reaches the door..pushes it open and walks in…sees Sakhi sitting
perched b the bed, the professor sitting quiet and Vishy lying dead…
Karma falls and falls beside Vishy, and Sakhi runs as she sees it
towards him

FADE TO BLACK
