Vance Coaching Method Football Philosophy: Scout Team (Scouting)

1. Scouting Opponents a. Scouting will be done by junior high coaches on Friday nights, unless the coach has a son or daughter playing or cheering.

2. Scouting Reports and Viewing Film a. Scouting reports will be turned in from junior high coaches along with film on the day fallowing the night at which the next opponent played. b. Film sessions will begin for varsity coaches on the day that film is received. We will break down one side of the ball per day, unless the film is received on Sunday. If that’s the case, then offense and defense will be broken down at the same time with the OC heading the defensive break down and the DC breaking down the offense. The head coach will be bouncing back and forth between the 2 studies.

3. Scout Teams a. Both scout teams will be coached in practice by the Head Coach, to show the players on the scout to how important their role is to the team. Also to allow the coach to see how other players are doing in case something unexpected happened. b. The scout teams will be picked by coaches and posted on Monday.
c. The coaches will do their best to match each opponent’s player with the

respected talent on our own team.

4. Scout Team – Offense a. The scout team offense will be run by the Head Coach along with the Offensive Coordinator.

c. The scout team defense will be run by the Head Coach along with the Defensive Coordinator. They will be shown cards of plays that the opponent runs and will perform these plays so that the defense will become familiar with the looks that they will see on Friday night. and will play until the whistle blows. Scout Team –Defense a. b. Defensive scout team will be expected to stop the offense either for a short game or a loss on every play. 5. c. Offensive scout will be expected to score on every play and will play until the whistle blows.b. They will be shown cards of plays that the opponents run and will perform these plays so that the offense will become familiar with the looks that they will see on Friday night. .
