Test Method Colour Conclusion 

Benedicts  0.2g about of powder mixed  Brick red  Reducing sugar 

with 1 ml of water and 1 ml 
of Benedicts solution.  Heat 
for 5­10 minutes at 70 
degrees C.
Biuret 0.2g of powder mixed with  Purple  Protein 
1 ml of water. 1 ml of Biuret 
A solution then 3 ­ 4 drops 
of Biuret B solution.
Iodine  In a spoting tile add 0.2g of  Blue­black  Starch
the powder and add 1 ­2 
drops of iodine. 
Ethanol  0.2g of powder add 0.5 ml  Milky  lipid 
of ethanol then 1­2 ml of  white
water and mix.  Let it settle 
and compare with the results 
of a known lipid. 
Acid then  0.2g of powder add 1ml of  Brick red Carbohydrate 
Benedicts acid, let this sit for 5 minutes 
then neutalize with HCO3.  
Then carry out the 
Benedicts test.
