It will also be the only alcohol-serving arena that is affiliated with a university in the Midwest. The decision comes after years of patrons requesting the sale of alcoholic beverages at certain events. John Simpson, Director and Booking Agent for Hamilton Hall, states “After careful evaluation and research, Hamilton Hall is excited to continue our mission of excellent customer satisfaction and meeting our customer’s desires. Since our opening, patrons of Hamilton Hall have requested that we serve alcoholic beverages at select events.” The arena agreed to partner with AnheuserBusch for beverage supply. The arena has carefully planned and implemented a policy regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages. To address concerns of underage students consuming alcohol, Simpson explained “While we are the first university-affiliated arena to serve alcohol, there will be strict supervision to assure there is no underage consumption of alcohol.” The newly opened bars will only be open at events targeted at patrons over the age of twenty-one. To thwart underage drinking, the purchase of alcohol will involve two steps. First, patrons will show their ID to receive a wristband proving they are twenty-one years old. Second, they will show their wristband at each bar alongside there ID in order to purchase the beverage. Also, patrons will only be allowed to buy two alcoholic drinks at a time.
