PATINTERO

Patintero is one of the most popular Filipino Game. The

game is sometimes calledHarang Taga or Tubigan (because
water is used to mark the grid lines on soft earth). Patintero
is played by two teams with equal members in each team.

SKILLS DEVELOPED BY THE GAME

The game will measure the speed, agility and witty
attention of players, and their ability to play, not as
separate individuals but as a united team.

PLAYERS OF THE GAME

The game is usually composed of 5 runners against 5 taggers, but there could be less or
more than 5 runners as long as there would also be the same number of taggers against
the number of runners.

GOALS OF THE GAME

All the runners should be able to pass through the grid lines – all from the first till the
end – and back again at the starting area, that they’re not being tagged. The taggers will
also do the job of guarding, one tagger in each grid line, and will stop the runners from
passing through the line by catching or tagging them
using the pat or the hand, reaching the front part of
the runner’s body, NOT THE BACK PART.

THE PLAYCOURT

Extensive space is needed in this game. A square of

length 6 linear meters, and 4 horizontal meters must
be marked to an even split in three dimensions.

EQUIPMENTS USED IN THE GAME

Aside from yourself and the playground area, there are

no more other materials used during the game. But in
official Patintero games, the players use different
colored chalks placed on the palm of the taggers to
leave marks on the bodies of the tagged runners and
serves as a basis that the tagging was valid.

RULES OF THE OFFICIAL GAME

In an official game of patintero, each tagger uses

colored chalks on their palms so as to be clear and
prove that the tagging is valid due to the marks that will be left ONLY ON THE FRONT
PART OF THE RUNNERS’ BODIES.

TIME

There will only be two (2) minutes for each team accumulate their points during the
game.

OFFICIAL GAME ESSENTIALS

• Five (5) line referees to do the watch, one referee per line.
• One (1) person to compile and record the scores and at the same time watch the
clock for the time.

HOW TO PLAY THE OFFICIAL GAME

• Sa bawat guhit na malalagpasan

ng Bangon, bibigyan ang pangkat ng
dalawang (2) puntos. Ang puntos ay
igagawad lamang sa nangungunang
Bangon na pinakamalayong narating,
at hindi sa bawat kasapi ng Bangon
na nasa likod kahit nakakalagpas.
Kapag nakabalik sa simulang lugar ng
hindi natataya ang nangungunang
Bangon ay magkakaruon ng
karagdagang anim (6) puntos ang
kanilang pangkat.

bilang Bangon;

na dalawang minuto bawat pangkat);

magiging bagong Taya ang dating Bangon;

panalo.
